PNE Academy 2026/27

PNE Academy 2026/27

From our perspective it doesn’t stretch that far. Our academy scouting is far more restricted. Also, a player not being good enough for a top teams’ academy doesn’t not mean they’re not an increase in quality for our academy, which is made up of non-league players.
Elite sport is or can be a cruel business, they all have a dream - but only the cream and a bit of luck, make it.

This is the problem, Northampton spotted him we haven't, he might not turn out to be brilliant but for £32,000 and a pretty good upbringing, maybe a cheeky bid to Northampton offering them slightly more money and a loan or 2

Southport have just signed players from Man Utd and Everton's academy this week.

Have we "missed out" on those too?

No idea if legit, but it’s a good market to fill an U21s from IMO. Likely to be a lot of talent in African football that gets missed out from a predominantly European scouting network

Not sure if that’s where the name mentioned on the transfer thread came from

Done a bit of digging and found out his name. Jamiola Thomassola.

If Southport have signed them, then yes is the answer
Think you’ve missed the heavy irony there. If they’ve been signed by Southport, they probably aren’t EFL quality. Or are you suggesting we missed out on every academy player that ever moved clubs?

My point about this player is, the club he was at (Man City) his dad (Paul, ex Blackburn) the fact Man City are letting several young lads go for what ever reason, maybe financial, let's see how he goes on

If Man City are letting youngsters go, it will be for ability reasons, not financial.

We have Clayton Lescott son of Joleon. Do Man City and Wolves fans think they missed out on a gem?

As we know, Bolton have just been awarded grade 2 status. Interestingly, they have achieved this without having a pitch covered ie indoors. They have been granted planning permission though and that was sufficient for them to be awarded a 2. My son works for them and tells me the process started over a year ago. With that in mind you do wonder whether PNE did actually start the process a year or so ago when PR mentioned it as an upcoming priority.

Not PNE-related but this could be a very interesting game to watch.

National League North is good enough for Man City's starlets...

Maybe we've tried to buy Preston Sports Arena and go category 1. Possibly why the takeover is taking so long.
