Matchday Thread PNE v QPR - 1/12/23 - KO: 8PM - Championship

QPR weren’t great but how refreshing to see a manager with a clear gameplan. Cifuentes said before the game that he 100% expected a reaction from us after the Boro defeat. That’s why they were happy for us to have the ball and sit in a defensive formation first half. Well we surprised him. There was no reaction from the Boro game.

By half time it was obvious we offered no threat whatsoever and he saw that we were there for the taking. So he brought on Chair to attack us who changed the game for them.

Opposition managers must love playing against us at the moment.

Last night the first half was underwhelming but it was alarming how heads dropped after we conceded. We just got worse and worse as the game wore on.

Only positive I can take from todays match was Ramsay..looked decent and I know he tired towards the end but showed glimpses of quality and intent to get forward…I’m sure RL will coach the attacking intent out of him soon enough.
He seem to work OK with Holmes

Lowe has spent a few quid now and we are going backwards, nothing ever changes here we constantly flatter to deceive, its like we are stuck in a perpetual vortex 😞😞😞

Really?

I stayed until the end for some reason & I was keeping an eye on him but didn't see that.

Admittedly only off Sky coverage - but to interpret his smiling as “not bothered” is an (understandable) emotional reaction. Cameras were focusing on him at the time. He was politely clapping the spectators and kind of smiling ironically.

If he was getting some abuse back from some of those supporters, what’s he supposed to do? Get angry? Shout back? Or totally blank the supporters (not all of whom would be going after him? Or carry on clapping?

He appeared to make the decent and professional choice IMO.

Agree he's in a no win situation but smiling / laughing at folk giving him abuse whether justified or not is hardly a smart choice.

Can’t agree. If there was more smiling in the world (and by that I do not nean a laissez-faire attitude) the world would be a better place.

We should not pander to the sensitivities of abusive people.

Always been a Lowe supporter but my patience is wearing thin.

Not sure when we had avg players last season he tried to play a ‘passing’ brand. But this season with good technical players he wants to be more direct?

I don’t think we played a forward pass all night out of defence. Sticking Holmes and Mads out wide was criminal.

He needs to go back to 5-3-2. Millar and Calvin LWB & RWB and give them the freedom to attack. No wins in the next 2 and I think it could be game over.

And that in itself is a damning indictment of Ridsdale and the higher management at the club......They're all from the Ostrich School of Management.....It's clear that this is only going one way......Prepare to dig in for a relegation scrap
They need to act swiftly before we get dragged into the relegation fight…..
