Poor performance again.

Twice played "advantage", both times we missed but instead of bringing it back the game continued.

The one in the 1st half where Barton was going through on goal & was pulled back and then Hume missed was diabolical.

Thought it should've been a red card on 1st viewing.

What? You can't just bring the play back because the team didn't score. The advantage was still there; just because we didn't score, doesn't mean it wasn't there.

Do you understand the advantage rule?

Agreed though, the challenge on Barton should have been pulled up for the free kick instantly and the guy should've been booked/dismissed.

Listen to Grezza's interview on RL & he clearly doesn't understand it either.

Agree in principle but when the roles where reversed the referee applied the rule as the first poster described. The problem again is no consistency from referees.

How can you play an advantage on penalty/stonewall red card? At the end of the day, even if you do, you can always go back and still dismiss the player for the initial offence. Bottled it!

Is that not the same ref who brought play back for Carlisle 10-15 mins before to award a freekick on the edge of the box?? So they missed, but brought back play, so I get what the O/P is on about. The fact was, he should of stopped play, 2nd booked the fat twat and we should of had a freekick.

So up yours ballbag.

I'm not defending the ref. He was wrong in the way he went about making decisions, but what I said is still true.

got to agree the ref was rubbish, he gave them a sympathy penalty after their guy broke a leg and then bottled the free kick because he would have had to send their guy off

Bottled it big style when Barton was pulled back, Hume missed but should/could still have taken it back.
A Professional Foul is still a Professional foul and he should have been of.

I thought the ref clearly gave a throw for Gray's challenge on the broken leg victim - when play resumed he gave a free-kick and a booking for Gray - can he change his mind?

Your right here, there should have been no advantage and the lad should of been sent off.

That was exactly what I was trying to say. He had 2 completely different interpretations of the advantage rule, 1 for them & 1 for us.

How on earth he can play advantage when Barton is clean through on goal & gets pulled back is beyond me.

The ref was inconsistent with his application of the advantage rule...that could explain some of the confusion here.
In the first half, he gave Carlisle the advantage and then let them have a free kick when they failed to make anything of it. Then failed to make the same calls for us in very similar circumstances 🙁

Their penalty was the easiest decision he had to make all day though...

I'm sorry but their penalty was fair , there was a shove in the back on the Dumbrian player ...it was a thrust movement with the elbows bent and palms up ...their player might have made a bit too much of it or it was impetus ...who knows

The ref did appear to be sure ...well at least in that one instance

I agree that a lot of decisions were perplexing though .

at the foul on barton the ref blew his whistle then signalled play on, letter of the law says once tthe whistle is blown play is stopped the ref was shite
