Replace Westley with Who?

Replace Westley with Who?

I think the bit you are missing is that GW isnt being set upon by our fans because he hasnt given us instant success, its because hes shown absolutely no signs of improvement and has taken an already poor side backwards.

Id argue that Westley would be fine (or bought himself time) if we'd turned just 2 of the last 11 games at home into wins.

Let me ask you this question. Can you name a single manager who has been utterly hopeless, as hopeless at Westley has been, in the first 24 months in a job, and turned it around to be a success at that club?

Before I start to have a think, can we just clarify that, even though time flies, it has only been 12 months not 24?

Because that makes it a lot easier:

Warnock: various
Pulis: Stoke
Kendall: Everton
O'Driscoll: Doncaster
Ramsey: England

Just to clarify, i didnt say slow year, or relatively bad year. I said a year as bad as what Westleys had this year. i.e. winning one game in 5.

Genuinely dont know much abotu Ramsey early england days, but were there enough international games in a year to make a fair comparison?

Also not sure about Kendall tbh.

the other three you are having a laugh with though. none of them started out their job with a year anything like what Westleys put us through this year.

Because that makes it a lot easier:

Warnock: various - demonstrably not true. Colin has either brought about tangible improvement fairly quickly, or failed dismally. He's also a 'quick fix' manager who needs a free hand to have any effect, and has generally succeded when that has been afforded to him.
Pulis: Stoke - Stoke were an also-ran Championship side when he arrived, with no real aim beyond staying in the division. He did it and built from there.
Kendall: Everton - the Oxford League cup tie was, according to myth, his equivalent of Sir Alex and the Forest game. Whether he was on the verge of being sacked or not is something we will never know, but the idea that Everton were shite for ages while he was in charge, and he achieved success by being given time, is a bit of a myth. By the way, Kendall remains the last English-born manager to win a European trophy - how tragic is that?
O'Driscoll: Doncaster - again, tangible improvement in reasonable time. Apples and oranges.
Ramsey: England - not old enough to comment, although Winterbottom got ten years of ineptitude before anyone twigged he was a dud. Different era back then I suppose...

Thanks

Not read the thread (13 whole pages), but in answer to the thread title, has anyone thought about Sir James Savile?

Yes, a dead, hated paedophile would be a better option at this moment in time.

In fact, what I'm getting at is, we would we be better without any manager at all, than under this fruitcake. The players, left to their own devices could achieve better results than we're getting currently - would be hard not to really...

So would I. At least Surf has a genuine love for the club and would win the fans back. He hasn't done too badly with the fans team either. Certainly I would seriously have him before Westley every day of the week.

The programme seller loves the club, but wouldn't have him as manager. Couldn't make it up!

Westley should be in front of the judge for what he's done to PNE!

Can't believe he's not been sacked yet!

The clubs in turmoil!

Replace him with inspector gadget I don't give a fcuk as long he's not managing us.

The guy could sell ice to an eskimo he's that good with his words but in reality he knows sweet FA about football!

First three names I'd be talking too would be Nick Barmby, Gareth Ainsworth and Stuart Baxter.

Barmby seemed to be doing ok with a good set of players at Hull, but then got fired. What happened there? Wouldn't rule him out tho.

Ainsworth would be up there for me. Great player with a similar attitude on & off the pitch. I think he'd need a mentor along side him tho, ala Gary Peters, who could be Director of Football. Gregan would also give the place a great lift. Fans would get right behing him. Still a great shout regarding Ainsworth & I would get behind him.

I remember Barmby giving an interview at the end of last season and he mentioned the owners in some capacity. They didn't take to his comments too well and sacked him. I listened to the interview and couldn't detect a problem.
