I wonder if Voldemort wouldn't want Pulis because of his reputation, either? He wants Premier League football but wants it on his terms with the youth players (who aren't good enough) starting and us to adapt a passing flowing game (which has failed us in the past.) Just off topic a bit Voldemort, but you didn't mention SOD? He's better than any of those other managers mentioned when trying to play the easy flowing game. So why no mention?I seen Stevenage play a few times, and they play a mixture of Long Ball and Passing Football. A team should be able to play both. Personnally I think some people wouldn't be happy if we signed Sir Alex. Just give the guy a chance, if he fails, at least we'll know what the club are getting us for Christmas next season.

There are quite a few of us who remain scarred from having ENDURED the mind numbing long ball era of John Beck. It was awful to watch. It was an insult to the intelligence of anyone with the capacity to think. It was an abomination of the beautiful game.It was a disgracee to the once mighty and proud name of Preston North End.
If we return to this then it will virtually be the end of PNE. There are three stand out managers head and shoulders above Westley in Collins, Hughes and Robins.
It will be out with all our youngsters when they weren't the problem and it will be in with a bunch of 26+ year old neanderthals who as with the likes of Elliott, Brown, Collins, Nicholson, Parry, Hart, Shumulikoski, Nicholls ALL EXACTLY THE TYPE OF EXPERIENCED PLAYERS SO MANY OF YOU CRAVED who will be worthless at the end of their 3 year contracts. It was this insanity that dropped us in it in th efirst place.
You can guarantee first to go would be Coutts because he can actually play the beautiful game.
Our club is at the point of destruction. One of Robins, Hughes or Collins can save us from this fate. I'd even take untested Flitcroft ahead of Westley. Check out this chaps reputation at Farnborough and see what ohter fans think of him.
A typical post from the board fool! He goes awol until the favoured candidate is named by the club and then spews the usual brand of brainless rhetoric in which he rubbishes the chosen course of action and tells us how good it would be if something else happened.
This sets the complete nob up to await the outcome and - if it doesn't work out -claim he knew better in the first place!
The big difference between you Woods and the chairman is that he, and he alone has to back his judgement and the be judged on the outcome.
You, on the other hand are just an insufferable pillock who's opinions dont count for anything at all.
Someone should do us all a favour and lock you into a pair of keyboard proof boxing gloves!
Thought Stevenage were the most dour and painful team I've seen all season.
If that's his brand he can go forth.
If that's his brand he can go forth.
Not true. You must have seen us to have seen Stevenage!Thought Stevenage were the most dour and painful team I've seen all season.
If that's his brand he can go forth.
I'm no way a lover of his style of football - nor was I of Beck's. If he keeps us up, it will be a start with the shower we've got at Deepdale, no matter what kind of 'football' he will make them play.
We will see. But I bet it wont be pretty if he does.
Wouldn't have been my choice though, with who else is out there...

😱People keep mentioning it won`t be pretty. When was the last "pretty" game we saw Preston play? Surely success is the key. I know all about Beck, as somebody posted earlier great PR man shit manager.

No Danny you are the one who's stooped to new lows with your truly pathetic comment. Now remove yourself from this post as you are not welcome to debate your invalid point.
By the time you and your ilk have realised what the long ball really means it will be too late. Obviously in Preston's case the lesson from history concerning Beck was not learned. History is about to repeat itself and out will go the best crop of youngsters we've produced since the 1970's. Miller, Devine, Middleton, Hayhurst,Mayor, McLaughlin, Douglas and several others you've never heard of.
As for you Tuesdaynights would you like to inform every last one of us how the interview process was done? I know and when I reveal all everyone, apart from sycophantic Noddy's like you, will not believe it. So matey be my guest. Tell us all how it was done? Let's be having it chapter and verse.

Would that be the very Barnsley managed by Robins who annihilated us at home two seasons ago with a brilliant display of PURE football?
Don't forget Poyet got Brighton out of this division playing fantastic football.
And if you don't like Robins there's still Collins and Hughes. Anyone but Westley but it sounds as though you'll now get what you want. History is about to repeat itself and the parallel between Westley and beck is so close that it's like a parody.
Which Hughes?!

Voldemort, a genuine couple of questions here.
This fantastic crop of youngsters you rave about, why has no one bid for the players that you have mentioned above? I am not slagging them off before you claim that I am doing so.
What is so fantastic about Doyle Middleton because all I see is a plodder in midfield who looks lost and doesn't do very much. Again, not slagging him off, simply offering a simple point of view based upon what I have seen of him to date since Stockport away last season.

The one in Scotland.
JD I remember having the same arguments about the likes of Kelly jnr, Williams, Lawrenson, Baxter, Doyle, Thomson, Bruce, Jemson, McKenna, Ashcroft, Holden, Morely et al. The rest is history. You see JD we don't produce yougnsters who explode onto the scene in a dramatic fashion but over the years we've had the patience to devleop them. If it weren't for the aforementioned PNE would not be alive today.
I well remember everyone mocking Tony Morley because he was so painfully slim. Even at my young age I coud see he had it. The rest as they say became history with Morley going on to play for England and scoring the BBC's Goal of the Season for Villa against Everton. The other point you miss JD is that whereas in the past Arsenal tried to sign Morley from us they would no longer be interested. They want ready made galacticos type players.

Which Hughes?!
Ex falkirk manager John Hughes.
He got them to europe, which even in Scotland is a great achievement for that rag tag team.

I was going to post similar. Its because of the youngsters playing too much that we are in this mess. I can't think of one that is really cutting the mustard this season, although a few are improving slowly. Its lack of experience thats killing us.
Voldemort and while you are at it please tell me about john collins record at hibs?????
Voldemort answer ........they both failed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also Voldemort can I add, why did you insist these lads should have been playing first team football two years ago in a higher division, when it's obvious to everyone that they are still not ready now, in a lower division?

They fell out with the Hibs board just as Davies has doen so many times. I'd take those two ahead of long ball merchant Westely any time. How short your memory is Sandy that you'd actually want to return to the days of Beck and his discredited long ball game.
I told you all Coutts would be great signign and I was right. Trust me on this one I know what I'm talking about.
