Think we should do something in memory for him (ala footymad did with SuttyPNE - ironically also their top poster). What they did was close the forum down for a day in respect and also stop anybody from overtaking his post count so that he'd always be top. Be nice if we could do the same for David.
RIP Shaky
Really awful news. Always had brilliant banter with Shaky and loved every moment of it. Like others have said, I never actually met the guy, but after 8 years of debates, arguments, jokes and the occasional side bet, I feel like I really knew him well. RIP Dave. You will be sorely missed.
RIP Fella
Truly a sad day for this forum, but thoughts are with his family who must be devastated.

RIP Shaky, Ulverston and the hound trails will miss you sorely
Agreed T.
unbelievable.
used to see him in the sumners here and there and i think he used to sit low down on the kop at times.
I'm sure he's been posting as normal until very recently so this is a complete shock.

I'm thinking of asking people for their best memories of him and collecting them all together in a book for his daughter...but not yet. It's too raw at the moment io think.
Says a lot about the character when I text my mate who also posts on here the sad news, and he was as shocked as I am. We only knew Shaky from his posts on here and by seeing him at some games. As many have stated, it actually felt like you knew him personally.
Thoughts are with all his family.

I have been asked to post this by his daughter.
Shaky, or Dave to those of us who knew him personally, sadly passed away today. I'm not going into it the details.
he could be a grumpy, argumentative and downright arsey git he was a top bloke and one of my best mates. I'm gutted.
If anyone wants funeral details please PM me and once I know I will pass it on.
RIP Dave... Always remember you and love ya to bits mofwog. Xxx
Yes, and I have possibly been his greatest opponent over the last three to four years, Lonergan obviously being the centre of the argument.
I always felt, however, that if we had shared a couple of pints, there may have been common ground. He loved the Lake District, as I do.

So very sorry and utterly gob smacked to hear this. Flippin heck, I never met the guy, but actually feel like i know him from the this forum. Stunned!!
RIP and greatest condolences to all his family and friends.
Me and three mates went out for the footy today, two of us use forums and the other two haven't a fucking clue.
We tried to explain what it was all about ,and the characters good and bad that frequented the boards.
Like you, didn't know him in real life, but feel genuinely sad about this news.

A fitting place to tribute Shaky. RIP mate, travelled countrywide and had some joyous and not so joyous times with PNE. You became a great friend over 14yrs having met through pnefc.co.uk, which became pnefans.com and subsequently PNE-online.
I've shed a tear fella, forever in our minds, and we'll drink to the memories of you.
Rest in Peace Shaky lad.
Gutted.
