RIP Shaky

RIP Shaky

I`m in total shock! 🙁
Only met the fella once in the Moor Park, december 2000 at a christmas messageboard meet of this boards predecessor. I said I would go along as I was a board member and was threatened with "having your tangerine face pasted round the pub walls if you show" by one pleasant individual! It didn`t put me off though and I rolled up on my Vespa T5,as I said I would.Shaky saw me walk in with a helmet, put 2+2 together and came over.He bought me a pint of Guinness and as more Nobbers joined us we had a good natter and a laugh for a couple of hours. It was hard being a `pool fan then....second bottom of the football league, been beaten 7-0 at Barnet and just knocked out of the Cup at home on live tv by then non-league Yeovil! I took some fearful stick that afternoon up until around 2.30pm when the pub started to empty for your home game against Grimsby.A few lads(who probably now use this board)even offered to pay me on the game...I politely declined!
I`ve never forgotten that afternoon though and how our two clubs fortunes have changed since then.
RIP Shaky I still owe you that pint...

You don't see many T5s around these days. They were a great scooter. For the record if someone did have your tangerine face pasted around the walls that would have shown a lack of class, despite our hatred of your lot. I worked in Lashville for many years and had plenty of banter with the locals especially when it was coming up to derby day, in fact there were quite a few Fylde based Nobbers at our place. I worked there during the time of the 3 2 win at Gloomfield thanks to a Tony Ellis hatrick...oh how I loved that one!!

I was there and met you that day, you had some filthy tangerine hidden under your jacket which we found haha 😀. Fair play to you for having the balls to turn up.

You posted as Gray / Grey back then.

Good post, Banter is exactly what football should be all about. I can't stand it when i hear all this "we hate" stuff. Your post shows that Shaky was happy to "have the banter" but enjoy a pint with you at the same time.

Some lessons might be learned from such a terrible and tragic event.

Hear Hear unlike some other lashers who have frequented this board over the years at least Sats had the balls to put his face to a name. Even if it is a ugly one 😉

Shaky would have been on here all night tonight, slagging Lonergan off for conceding to Arsenal when "Any other Goalkeeper would have saved that!"

Can't believe I'm never going to be able to read his posts again. The most entertaining poster on the forum.

RIP

you were saying?😀

Don't know whether I've read it wrong but there's a fucking disgraceful comment on that link to AVFTT. Sats is no doubt a decent lasher, but that cunt on there wants seeing to

This was sent to me when my old man died. It seems appropriate for all the folks that knew Shaky. I didnt, but through the magic of this forum I felt that I knew him as well as anybody:

Feel no guilt in laughter, he'd know how much you care.
Feel no sorrow in a smile that he is not here to share.
You cannot grieve forever; he would not want you to.
He'd hope that you could carry on the way you always do.
So, talk about the good times and the way you showed you cared,
... The days you spent together, all the happiness you shared.
Let memories surround you, a word someone may say
Will suddenly recapture a time, an hour, a day,
That brings him back as clearly as though he were still here,
And fills you with the feeling that he is always near.
For if you keep those moments, you will never be apart
And he will live forever locked safely within your heart

My nephew, Josh, who used to post on here as PNETILLIDIE_8, met Shaky a few times through me.

I remember being outside Finneys after a game v QPR (2009?) chatting to Shaky whilst our Josh and Becky were nattering about their days at school a few years earlier (same school, a year apart).

Shaky, being the bloke he was, despite having never met our Josh before, still bought him a pint of cider.

Top man.

Our Josh, who reads this MB but isn't registered, sends his condolences.

He obviously said it as in if shaky could see it he'd laugh.

Actually he'd probably make the same comment himself if it was a lasher that had passed - jokingly of course.

Respectful posts mate, cheers.

God bless, Shaky. Though we never met, I will miss you. I have the feeling you'd be a little embarrassed by some of the stuff posted on here about you!
