Matchday Thread Rotherham Utd v PNE - 23/09/23 - KO:3PM - Championship

You or I don't know if he's been fast tracked, I said before I know fuck all about this ref. So why suggest it?

Ffs I am not here for a row just saying this ref is about as shit as most refs we have I don't get the suggestion whatsoever about positive discrimination or fast tracking. Have a think before you post.

First reffed in the Championship in September. Now let loose in the Premier League before the end of the year.

Thanks, yeah, I saw it today. Still doesn't say anything about him being fast tracked though, you couldn't provide any evidence then and still now - cheers.

Premier League Chief of Referees Howard Webb was also very complimentary about Allison along with Rebecca Welch, who is set to become the Premier League’s first female referee, when he spoke to Sky Sports.

He said: "I'm excited to see the appointment of Rebecca Welch to her first Premier League referee's appointment and, on Boxing Day, we'll see Sam Allison taking charge of his first game.

"They're both part of the PGMOL's development group. It's an initiative tied into the elite referee development plan, which has been in place for a couple of years now to fast-track talented officials to the pathway.

They're both from groups that are not traditionally represented in the Premier League officiating cohort and hopefully it might inspire other people to give it a go."

Aye he was shite. And the ref we had against Rotherham missed a clear pen on Millar and probs a red for a challenge I think it was on Browne. He was basically your standard championship ref.

That should do it.

Performance today was something we all knew we had in us and was great to see. Before the game i was walking up with zero expectations but was pleasantly surprised to see a flat back 4!!

Im not a person who holds any coaching badges but it was inevitable that putting round pegs in round holes would see a marked improvement. Add that to our best players in their best positions and its a recipe for more success than failure. Millar, a winger on the wing, and by god could you see it today. McCann, a holding midfielder not a box to box player, arguably his best game today - won the ball back more than anyone. Whiteman, a bit further forward so he can play more dangerous passes.
Hughes, a left back at left back. Don’t think I need to go on.

Credit must go to Lowe for changing things up, hopefully he sees a 4141, 433 as the best suited to our players going forward.

We nullified a very good Leeds team (on paper) to only having a penalty (soft/dodgy) as a goal scoring opportunity in 90mins. Our midfield today was arguably the strongest its been so naturally our defence got support in defending before the ball came within 25yards of goal.

More on Friday Please lads 👏🏻👏🏻

Credit for getting the basics right for one game after fucking up for most of the last 15 games, I don't think so.

That formation has to stay.

As simple as that.
