They probably do, that's what I mean about the unofficial unrestricted seating, at away games people off the coaches can meet up in pubs or the concourse then sit together with likeminded people and it builds from there.

Those guys now can't sit together at home and are split up. Possibly lose self-confidence and don't start chants while isolated etc etc..

Been chatting to an old mate over Instagram about this. The club maybe need to see if they can bunch them together and find a way to get the atmosphere going.

If I’m quite honest, I don’t think safe standing would have any bearing on the atmosphere. It may improve it a tad, but nothing major will change.

Years and years of stagnation is what has killed the atmosphere. Knowing we’re going into yet another season to finish mid table in the Championship again.

The stadium is a complete state. The roof is leaking, dead pigeons stuck in gutters, filthy outside. The stadium has been completely neglected by the powers that be, but hey, at least we have a light show (which looks more like a dodgy power outage).

The club seemingly don’t care about the stadium, or improving the atmosphere and that’s rubbed off onto the fans.

The match day experience as a whole is pretty shite. Imagine being a kid coming here for the first time. Stadium is dirty, queue for a pie at HT takes about 4 months, football on the pitch for the most part has been abysmal for the last 24 months and the atmosphere is dead.

We desperately need a change at the football club to get it bouncing again. Hemmings needs to sell to give us that buzz back. Currently, we are treading water and it is only a matter of time before we start struggling and sink.

100% spot on there Warton under RL football is was just a chore going on. Ok better now but still atmosphere isn't great at home really.

I know there is an assumption that safe standing improves the atmosphere but it would be interesting to know if it does in reality. Personally, I think having safe standing at the back of the AK would add very little. I have always thought rival fans going at it in close proximity to each other is when the atmosphere is at its best.

The club tried the experiment of opening the kop to home fans a couple of years ago, but other than the lashers game, it made very little difference to the atmosphere

I remember that. Most of the time there was only sub 500 north end fans on the kop. The best I remember it was when we had the old town end and then the away fans were in the paddock.

This.

The only thing that really dictates the atmosphere is what’s happening on the pitch.

Anything else is peripheral. The football on offer at Deepdale has been very poor for a long time. No coincidence the atmosphere follows the same trend.

Ironically as someone who banged a drum for 11 years I have to agree with the two or three guys who posted on the FB groups that it is time to get rid or at the very least, get someone who can actually drum.

As pointed out by the aforementioned, whoever is currently doing it can't keep time, even with each other and resort to the same, regimented, non-spontaneous, boring, predictable routines after EVERY corner, chance or goal. It's almost like they aren't allowed to do anything else.

Then there's literally banging the words out to certain chants, like 'Riis Will Tear You Apart' which sounds absolutely f'ing dreadful and actually stops people from joining in.

One drummer seems to think yelling 'Barmy Army' every five minutes and whacking his drum as hard as humanly possible is how you create an atmosphere and has even stopped other chants in full flow to try and introduce it.

All in all they are a bigger hindrance to the atmosphere than a help often drowning others trying to start songs whilst those stood around them consistently get the words wrong to chants (Osmajic wasn't signed from Montenegro, Can't Help Falling... starts with 'Wise Men Say' not 'Take my Hand' and Rockin All Over The World is simply 'I like It' repeated a number of times before 'Hecky & Stuart McCall' not a series of 'woahs') and won't entertain any new songs unless it came with the player from the previous club or is nicked from United/Liverpool (prime example being that god awful attempt to sing 'Allez Allez Allez' for Alan Browne).

Until a major reshuffle of where fans sit/stand the atmosphere is going to continue to be dreadful like it has been for at least 10 years.

Also when we sold DJ and Browne we lost two classic PNE songs (50 grand and Baluga) which have not been replaced.

The Browne song is a classic?

I always thought of it as one of the worst songs we've ever had for a player.

If there was a positive of him leaving that was it.
