Typical North End - only sign him if he's cheap or better still......FREE Doesn't matter he only has one leg or is visually impaired 😎I wouldn’t be breaking the bank for him but if we get him for cheap enough then bring him in.

There's a player in there. Just needs to learn how to release the ball more quickly.

To be fair that wasn’t really the point I was making. I like greenwood j think he will have a good career at championship level. However it stops there. If we are signing him for over a million then I think we can sign better.Typical North End - only sign him if he's cheap or better still......FREE Doesn't matter he only has one leg or is visually impaired 😎
I wouldn’t be wasting most of our budget on him and I certainly wouldn’t be making him our highest earner. North end have been better with signings recently. I know people will mention okkles and bowler but this season we have got more right than wrong.

He often takes a couple of great touches but then fails to make the pass and is dispossesed. If he improves his decision making i think there's a player in there.

Considering when he signed that the expectation for some was if he was a slight improvement on Woodburn then we'd done alright then he's been great.
However, his form has definitely dropped and it seemed to drop part way through the Oxford game. In the opening 20 minutes he had two shots when other players were in better positions and should have been played in. When he got in the perfect shooting position he decided to pass; then Woodman decided to set up their player and Greenwood's head has dropped since.
Shades of Simon Whaley, looked class in some games but once on a bit of a sticky run can't regain his form. He might come good again but if he doesn't buck up soon then come the final couple of games he'll be bench warming for 90 minutes whilst whichever youth players face fit this year gets their token 10 minutes.

Some of those Midfielders are outright defenders as well as there's some outright attackers. Greenwoods's a player who can do both at a reasonable level. He can get a bit carried-away with himself when in attacking mode, but works his socks off. TBH I'd definitely have him rather than either ONE of these three below, with :-He's definitely had a poor run of form. Thankfully it's coincided with Mads really stepping up.
Maybe Greenwood knows he won't be here next season, maybe it's just a genuine dip in form. All I know is that I'd have been delighted to sign the first half of the season version, but would be horrified to be spending over a million on the current version. I did think his first 20 minutes on Tuesday were like the old him, but then he really faded out of the game.
Do we NEED to add him to a midfield of McCann, Ledson, Whiteman, Steffy, Mads, Potts? Probably not, especially when it seems certain we'll need at least one new striker.
(A) Ledson ( more of a straight defensive midfielder ), and he's raised his game for now ( I wonder why😉?) but still slow in the tackle and also.... those "Hollywood" balls that don't come off.
(B) Whiteman - ( I'm not confident of either of his defensive OR attacking attributes.... ( now sideways, seriously- that's always his default 'option' & that's why he's in 'my' group, along with his general demeanor of not-being-that-bothered )
(C) Potts - Brad can be fast, but doesn't beat his man like he could & should do. It's a confidence thing, because he used to. He also scored one of the most spectacular goals I've ever seen. So - he can do 'it'.
So yes, I'd have him, along with McCann, Thor, & Mads definitely, and two out of A,B.or C as above.
He's a second striker or an inside left forward. If we play the box midfield he's ideal as one of the twin #10s with Mads. If we play the diamond midfield though he's less effective and probably doesn't make the XI cos you'd want Mads if you're only playing one #10.Problem is I don’t know what system suits him. You’re absolutely right hes not a playmaker, but he was also broadly ineffective playing the Akpom role at Boro, collecting the ball off the striker and having a shot, and he was even less effective playing as a winger. So I don’t really know how you set up to get the best out of him
The only thing I can think of would be the Alex Neil style that got the best out of Browne. But we don’t have the squad for that
Equally, if we played a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 with an attacking left back overlapping he'd be ideal as the left inside forward. But we seem wedded to 5 at the back now with the contract extensions.
I still think he's easily worth more than the £1.1m if that's the clause. Less sure he's worth the 30k a week I've heard mentioned.
Sorry but maybe I should have pointed out that it was a general "tongue in cheek" remark and not anything personalTo be fair that wasn’t really the point I was making. Seems our transfer budget under CH is £4m a season? Based on this and the previous one.
So buying Greenwood and Porteous for £2.1m shouldn't wipe it out completely, with 3 or 4 coming in on loan.
Not sure where the £1m fee for Porteous came from, but I'm sure I read it.

Greenwood and Porteous at 2.1 mill over the length of their contracts probably works out 700 grand per year so a small portion of the 4 miil per year. Not brilliant at maths, correct me if I have got something wrong.

Not sure how these deals are structured but I'm just going on the basis that they'll cost about half of what we'll probably spend in fees.Greenwood and Porteous at 2.1 mill over the length of their contracts probably works out 700 grand per year so a small portion of the 4 miil per year. I think I might wait after the game and give Greenwood a lift back to Leeds. Shocking performance it’s like playing with 10 men.
Theo Mawene would be better starting in that role than him.

Probably needs a spell at a top league 1 club, nowhere near Championship quality yet, I hope to God we don’t sign him permanently.

Do not sign - I am struggling to see what contribution he brings to the game .
