Don’t get to as many aways as I used to but the 5 I’ve done this season have been awful atmospheres, every chant is absolutely rapid and half the stand are singing something completely different. Shite.

You’re right though. Keep the same meter and rhyme as many words with the original lyrics as possible.

Looking at it again I’d change 2 lines to make it more singable…

Paid income tax
And VAT
No money’s left
For Hecky’s team
Cash is tight
Pitch is poor
No new owners at our door

The FAN are looking at ways we can try to improve and address the atmosphere in what is going to be a huge second half of the season.

You may have noticed a few changes in terms of pre match build up. Ultimately it will take the introduction of safe standing to give an opportunity for significant changes but if anyone has any suggestions what could be done in the short term, let me know.

Personally and in behalf of the forum I keep doing what I can but the lack of volunteers (except on the STFS) makes it frustrating.

I know we've been here 100 times before and yes, performances and wins dictate most of it but if you have any sensible suggestions that the fans or club could implement? Let us know.

It's odd, you definitely notice it in conjunction with the drumming too. People outpace the drummer and it dies out.

That being said I do question some of the drumming choices. I feel the drummer is playing the syllables of the chant rather than playing the beat. Take the end of the, rather cringe inducing, 'Oh Lancashire'. The drummer plays 'tits', 'fan', 'ny', 'and', 'Pres', 'ton'. I don't recall but the same is probably true of 'Barm', 'my', 'ar', 'my'. Contrast that with the drumming here, just keeping time:

As an aside, I thought the Wigan fans were pretty good on Friday. Good variety to their songs, but I noticed the drummer actually controls the tempo too. They were probably more up for it admittedly, but still probably something to look at there.

The yoofs on the Town End have probably never seen Only Fools & Horses so wouldn’t know the tune.

They should though it’s really good but you are right instead they will probably carry on with the same old tripe that’s been going for years and then whine about the lack of atmosphere every other week.
