St Ledger Gone

St Ledger Gone

Yes i think your right, 93 days would take us to roughly the first week of december, so fuck knows, the more i think about it the more the story is full of holes

I am right. A loan which happens outside the transfer window is classed as an 'Emergency Loan'. These can last for a maximum 93 days.

Well according to his 'twitter' page his status doesn't seem too convincing unless there is something else he is on about. I hope he doesn't go but if the club decide to let him go it will be a huge mistake. It shows the club have no ambition after we have had a decent start we need to keep the team we have and carry on going. Like stated on another thread, somebody at the club needs to grow some balls.

No, I'm afraid that what we need isn't 'ball's', it's money....say you couldn't pay your mortgage and the building society were pressing and you had a classic car you could sell to clear the debt and ensure you kept your home. What would you do? Hold on to the car and be evicted? Or maybe talk to the lender and say, 'give it a further few months and I think the value of the car could increase, plus I may get a windfall which I could use to pay off some of the debt.' The thing that irks me about this rumoured deal is the fact that we're apparently agreeing to loan him to a rival club. Sell him in January to a Premiership club, once he's had more international experience and a decent run in a hopefully successful PNE side (maybe with a League Cup run on the go)-difficult to argue with that, but this deal would, as I've said, be a disaster in PR terms.

He could turn out to be another crap flash-in-the-pan, like Macken and Nugent, and they ripped City and Pompey off for a cool 10 million in those deals!😉

No, believe me, he's no flash in the pan. Neither was Nugent, but he went to the wrong club, which has put his career back 2 years. The same could easily happen to St Ledger if he went to a nonentity of a club like Middlesbrough.

Is it any fucking wonder we cant sustain the crowds when the board seem to constantly sell sell sell,

Or putting it another way , is it any wonder with the crowds that get that we have to sell .
We usually are in the top ten and we havent had many bad sides over the last 10-15 years.

Is it any fucking wonder we cant sustain the crowds when the board seem to constantly sell sell sell, I understand we are skint in a big way but surley the time will come when we cant find another £3.5 mill plus player to pull us out of the shit and we will be left with a team that will struggle in the Championship.
I used to like Shaws frugle mannner but enough is enough he is in grave danger of putting us right in the shit.

I think that time will come as soon as St Ledger is sold! Apart from Lonergan, who is there? Nolan could, in time, command a fee like that, but not for a couple of years.

I'm just stating facts. A loan outside the transfer window can only last for a maximum 93 days.

Sorry...you misunderstand, not having a go, I can see what you're saying and am just seeking an assurance that, if that is indeed the case, this rumour can be well and truly scotched!

I don't care about why the board sell him if he goes. To let him go to Boro would be absolute madness. We should be looking to beat Boro to promotion, not sell them our best player. Seriously fooked off if this happens.

to be honest I think this'll be a good deal, he seems to have been struggling with niggles this season which is not like SSL. He is a model professional and would go with my support as I think with Chilvers, Mawene, Trotman, Nolan, Collins, and Collins I see there being enough cover to sell at a 'good' price.

I doubt we'll ever know the true figure or indeed the way it'll be paid but rarely do we seem to get shafted' over transfer fees. I doubt Irvine will be happy but perhaps a bit of money to spend on loans/perm deals in Jan has been promised by Shaw? We can only dream/hope. I know it wont come anywhere near the money recouped but Irvine has shown he can buy decent players on the cheap (Parry, Wallace, Trotman, Nolan, Brown etc)

I'm sorry mate, but I'm not having this. Selling (or loaning, in this case) such an influential player sends the wrong message out to the rest of the squad and the fans.

Fuck Irvine, no manager worth his salt would be happy if his best player was sold without his consent. Whether you think we'd be getting a good deal for him financially, it stinks.

How do you know Irvine hasn't consented? Maybe that's why he signed Collins. Maybe he's been promised a bit of the cash? DO you know? For sure? Just asking.....

SSL's dad's been on here saying that the player doesn't want to leave, and that Irvine wants him to stay. That's pretty conclusive I'd say!
