I'm sorry to say, but I don't care what you think.

Of course you don't. You're the voice of PNE online, so you speak but rarely listen, which is the crux of your problem. The fact is that my analysis is spot on in this instance and you know it. I don't deny your right to post whatever you want and to create friction and disharmony. I will be happy to keep pointing out your hypocrisy and will not be denied that right.....of course, when you're a MOD you can try and stop me.

I really don't care about why they have gone on to single out one poster and use their powers to abuse him constantly, I don't care why they seem to think they are above the sanctions of the forum.

I do care that these people are Mods, I do care that posters who are not Mods seem to get treated differently, I do care that we could well have people who have received warnings/infractions in the last few weeks are not only being allowed to carry on being Mods, but are allowed to have votes in decisions on the very people they goad and abuse.

It's just beggars belief that the likes of Nobber and Raefil are allowed to have a say on what happens to posters, such as WIBG, when it's been proven in this very thread that they have a personal agenda against him.

I`m genuinely sorry to say this but imo this term the Mod and Admin team are failing badly from what I see.
This appears to me to be a `team` failure.
If mods are resorting to this...one can only presume they are not using the usual admin tools to keep order and civility.
Can I just point out that I replied to WIBG once last night, just once, to a quoted comment by another poster. I didnt name anyone or anything. If Raef wants to have a go at the clown thats his perogative. To say that there were two ganging up on him is a nonsense and a typical response from the biggest WUMs on here. Dish it out, cant take it back, tough shit really.

And this is why the mod section is fucked.

This plank seems to think as long as you don't quote the person you can abuse them. He sees this as a way around his recent demand to put people on ignore.

He's a coward, plain and simple. At least Raefil had the guts to come out and say it, this cunt can't even do that!

To be honest, Nobs....the ins and out`s of the latest spat are summat for the mods to discuss...I`ve read the threads but am not really dissecting them.

It would be possible to post and debate all day about responses to WUM`s, who started what, etc, but this whole saga has now gone on for so long I think we need to raise our heads and look at the bigger, overall, picture.

That is what my posts today on the matter are aimed at....not specifics, and recent events, I`m trying to comment without becoming embroiled unduly in the minutiae.

So my use of the word` mods` wasn`t meant as a judgement on this particular matter, but in general.

If it causes you real pain, as WIBGs did to raefil. It is a rationality versus heat of the moment thing.I would like to think we would have a heart and not infract based on that.

As I said in the final paragraph there is a lot to discuss around what happened after the first couple of replies but I am not convinced that the place for us moderators to be doing that is out in the open. Although of course the guiding principles should be (it is just cases that become a grey area while they are still fresh)

I'd agree with that totally 6p, its a bit like someone continuosly calling you a racist, a bigot, a bully. Anyone will respond to lies in a heated manner. Tough shit on the instigator.

However what can not be denied in public is that one moderator has come out and openly said they have an agenda against a poster who recently received an infraction.

That is not a heat of the moment thing.

Sadly on this occasion an attempt at being a WUM has surely worked. Irrespective of what I think of the individuals (I actually appreciate the nuances of much of what WIBG and raefil post) the outcome of this recent spat is clear to see and to my mind the forum is a poorer place for it.

Of course its a poorer place. Look back and see WIBG's comment of 'Job Done'. That is why people have left. That is why there are more arguments. Nothing to do with anyone abusing power or any other bullshit his little friend posts. Its one big WUM, aimed at goading people into a reaction. WIBG has deliberately created this as proven in this very thread with these comments. Only someone really really dumb cannot see that and are looking for anything to justify their own stupidity for trying to back their 'poor offended' friend. Or worse trying to repeatedly goad people with comments of racism, bigotry, or bullying. Fucking ridiculous!

Just a question/observation.....if you can see an accident waiting to happen, why would the Mods not intervene before the road crash that we now have? This certainly isnt something that has just appeared out of the blue. People have been spoiling for this fight, and other related skirmishes, for weeks, yet it has been allowed to turn into WW3. One didnt have to be Einstein to see where this was going to end up. Posters nailed their colours to various masts and their intentions/aims/objectives were posted for all to peruse. Timely interventions could surely have prevented this.....just my view which is obviously worthless (before one or more of the protagonists say it)

And you are correct.

The crutch of this is the fact that mods have used their positions to bully others, shown utter contempt for the rules and even had a vote in handing out punishment to those they have bullied.

It's a sad state of affairs for sure, but there we are.

Honestly...

pne-online is a very fairly run site with a democracy system in place. It is simply not possible to get consensus of opinion in the time it has taken for this thread to explode. My waking hours are useful for spotting spammers in the middle of the night but near useless for commenting and discussing issues like this one. Others have busy lives that rightly receive more attention than spats between individuals.

I appreciate that something like this was always going to happen, and if you want to remove mods in the future then potentially a precedent has been set.

My genuine hope is that people can see how stupid this all is and just step back and think about what really matters.

This should be an internet forum to discuss Preston North End, with some nice side debates to fill the gaps.

Real life is outside the window.

Thanks for this. I know that being a Mod is a thankless task (I have done it myself on a non football related forum). The weakness of the system has been exposed because of where these spats have ended up. In my view, the Mod team need to decide whether or not they need to get a firmer grip or whether these sorts of battles are the price we have to pay for being open and allowing spats to develop into something rather more unpleasant. FWIW, I think that a more consistent and transparent approach needs to be the order of then day and in that way, fewer "incidents" may occur. However, it is inevitable that there will be disagreements and the board would be all the poorer without them. It's about clear boundaries which are impartially policed....I'll shut up now.

Quick question, why was the poll I made on another thread removed? I thought the question seemed quite appropriate given the current topic of discussion.

No idea...but it did occur to me we run a similar poll twice a year already..Mod Elections.

I am pretty sure votes of no confidence could be seen as mod bashing.

I do not think we need to have reached the point of revolution because one poster openly does not like another.

I know we have the mod elections, but usually there's not so much dispute over the moderation team away from each election. I was just curious to see what some of the other site users, maybe those who won't post such strong opinions on here, think.

If that's how the results of such a poll would be interpreted, then I suppose it's fair enough...

As for your second point, I don't know about 'revolution' but certain mods continuing in their role after basically giving up on being impartial altogether yesterday isn't exactly something some will be happy with. If it wasn't so close to another election I think people would probably be quite annoyed.

Some things are really quite simple Shinny, there are not enough elected mods to offer cover throughout the day/night, some as was shown yesterday have used personal issues with certain members to "bully" said members and are allowed to do so irrespective of THEIR own reasons where they should be impartial!!!!

Senior mods and admins seldon seem to help with the day to day running of the threads and their content and seem to have elevated themselves "above" this resposibility leaving the elected (and clingons) to share this burden, this is further weakened when some mods have a beef with certain posters.

Back to the Gentry day topic that started this whole saga, I support WIBG is his original stance re PSG and keeping us all waiting re the date/game, why do this and why do they take ownership of this, surely confirming potential numbers and coaches is the resposibility of the club, what else is there to do? Raef and his bullying of WIBG was so ott I could hardly believe what I was seeing.

Nobber did join in the personal stuff aimed at WIBG yet all is well in Modnarnia with regards to the speed at which the thread was split and the abuse aimed at one poster!!!!!!!

Understood....but to be realistic, if your thread had taken off it would have been just the same people posting, and it`s not that long until the next election in January.

The forum needs stability until then, and `hopefully` along with the thread closure this morning the latest spat has largely worked itself out for now. Expanding it away from this thread would not be helpful.
