I remember a time when explosions like the one on the Gentry Day thread were happening several times a week. Shaky (RIP) was at the heart of a lot of it, along with Voldemort, the vicar, VB, Surf and various others... It was entertaining. Some great threads were knocking about because people took each other on. Let's be honest, Shaky wouldn't leave a poster be if he took issue with them, be it fans of lead boots, or indeed Nappy... Not always right, but consistent and open.

I also remember thst Shaky used to get grief for having the name 'Shaky' (and the reason for the name) from one particular poster, it was shamefully wrong. It's a shame that examples of that same kind of abuse has been levelled at a member who has been open and honest about mental health problems. It has happened numerous times, but I suppose it's a perceived weakness that the protagonist has wanted to push to try and get the 'job done' result.

It's wrong.

Are you saying in the first paragraph that the behaviour is entertaining but in the second it's wrong? Sorry, may be misreading but that's how it read about the same kind of abuse.

It's wrong.

It's wrong that a certain Mods has used their powers and role to abuse others.

It's wrong that a certain Mod has openly wished a poster receives a positive blood test result.

It's wrong that a certain Mod bullied, harassed and stalked a poster all over the forum.

It's wrong that a certain Mod, who admitted he has mental health problems, then makes two attacks on two separate members with regards to mental health.

It's wrong that a certain Mod makes insulting comments towards another forum members wife.

However, it's not a shame that this poster has 'left' the forum.

It`s also a shame that the forum was not more tolerant of a user, patron, and volunteer forum moderator that was clearly the only person really distressed.

Your right Jake... It's misleading... The 2nd paragraph refers to it being taken a personal level. It's not clear.

When the abuse gets personal on a web based forum, you are over stepping the line. And in my opinion, when someone uses an issue like mental health as a 'weapon'... Well, its shamefully wrong.

No worries, the tone didn't match hence my confusion as I didn't think that's what you meant. Sorry didn't mean to detract from your point

Possibly.

But I'll be honest, after years of trying to resolve the dislike his had of me, both privately and publicly, the abuse has reached a fervent level the couple of months when reasoning with him became almost impossible.

Do I regret and am I embarrassed about some of the things I've said? Of course I am. Do I wish everyone would get on and when people do have an argument that it doesn't sink to the level it did? Of course I do.

I've made mistakes, but I've also made attempts to resolve the situation and it was only 2-3 months ago that I publicly apologised yet wave after wave of abuse still came my way, no matter what I posted. I actually looked back over a few threads from years gone by and it became clear that for the last 7/8 years Nobber has had an issue with at least one poster at any one time and has locked horns continually with them - motiv, me and now Mossy stand out and I'm sure that there are others.

Was my 'Job Done' jibe uncalled for? Maybe.

As for how much tolerance do you show? I'm not sure, I mean I don't recall much tolerance been shown towards Hans when he posted on here, do you?

There were similarities. I`d not advise opening that can of worms. It would not go well.

I've no intention of doing that, just merely highlighting the 'when it suits' attitude from some people on this forum.

As you have just demonstrated, so comprehensively.

Agreed

The false tears and fake anguish may fool some people, but others can see right through the tedious charade.

What I don't understand is the double standards - if some people complain about abuse, they are told to 'join a forum for women' or man up.

If others complain, a whole protest thread is started and we are all supposed to feel sorry for them.

Hope to see you stand for election, Bardas 🙂
