Increase the number of elected mods to 7. This will take the pressure off individuals, and encourage more candidates to come forward.

Time for one of the senior mods to go. I can think of one of them that hasn`t shown his face on here for so long I`m not sure of his name anymore. He clearly won`t be contributing in the mod forum. Get rid. He`s a waste of internets.

Back to basics...with moderators referring to and applying rules consistantly and explaining decisions. It will be pedantic and slow at first...but the forum needs a `re-set`.

New moderators denied access to deleted posts older than the previous term. (Unconnected with this post..but I have already emailed Admin regarding this matter, for a mixture of reasons, some relevant). It is time to put old feuds to bed and move on.

I think it's a tad worrying when posters suggest that because someone is 'open and frank about their mental illness' they should somehow be immune to the same sort of abuse they dish out themselves. Like it gives them a free pass to do what they want almost.

This poster has abused people for 10 years, he once called someone a pedophile for two weeks solid just because they disagreed with him on the issue of drugs for Gods sake! He's been warned about his conduct in the past few weeks, even leading to an infraction I believe, yet continued his harassment of one poster to the disgusting level we saw at the start of this week.

But that's OK because he's open and frank about his mental illness it would seem.

Also lets not forget he's not been banned, this 'I'm leaving' bollocks is all his own doing, and I suspect it's more to do with the fact he's been caught escalating the feud with WIBG to new levels and is due another infraction point. He actually thought because he didn't quote WIBG he could abuse him from the sidelines on the pretense of having him on ignore!

I know WIBG well overstepped the mark a while back when he used the posters illness against them at the start of the year, and that is indefensible, but I believe all that was sorted and an apology given. And th efeeling was everybody had moved on.

I'll repeat what I said before, if anybody can get so fucking wound up by one poster leaving the word Utd out of his posts and having a tag line of 'voice of PNEonline' then maybe a forum isn't for them.

And just as a side note, I don't actually believe the other Mods, not including Raf and Nobber, have done to much wrong in all of this.

They seem to have given out infractions to the right people at the right time, and couldn't really have predicted how two of their own would act in all of this.

A lot of truth there Mossy. And the feud started because of Nobbers biting at a very humorous wind up (it did bring out the Ciddy and Liverpool fanbois). My point is the mods should have seen this and diffused the problem. It's fucking ridiculous if you ask me to get offended about a poster pretending to be a Utd fan, and lets face it it was so fucking obvious even to a dumb shit like me.
Again we know nobber and if he is running and hiding behind a very serious issue ( I think he does) it does not take away the fack WIBG kept up the game. Bit like torturing a puppy in my book.

For what it's worth I pretty much disagree with everything Nobber says. But as a human being I would like him still to be part of this "community".

I am also diametricly opposed to the political view of 6P but think he makes an excellent moderator. Thing is 6P will not show his bias. Nobber as mod would only end in tears to be frank. Again the mods could of infracted him as you say he can bully.

Really at the end of the day it is an internet forum people should not take it so serious. My random guess is a person who has been bullied and never dealt with it can become the bully on an internet forum. Purely guess. But does that give others a reason to bully back. Any sane human being realises when the joke goes too far. Only a sadist will continue with the torture?

and I am an invisible poster. If you want to know about mental illness take a look back at my invisible threads. This site was therapy to me for a while because I did not get the retorts.

Fair play to jake and 6p for trying their very best to make sense (if thats possible) of this thread, and as we now seem to only have 4 elected mods I would have expected the seniors or admins to step in and support these guys, however Raef has seemingly pissed on his chips and Ronald is seldom here leaving this once well moderated place to the hard work of just TWO mods, admins it's a bloody disgrace and well you know it, not one of the admins or seniors has the balls to come on here and try and sort things out (yes I know you all have jobs etc etc etc, but to just remain invisible is shameful).

This place needs a shake up, needs direction and it needs more than anything innovation, new ideas and more support from those in power (if you want to view this as having a go at the present set up then your eyes are closed). Decent well respected members are saying that you haven't got the mod set up right, there is a lack of visible support for those trying their very best but it would seem that we are just meddling in something that is just dandy!!!!!!!

Jimbo, Al and Dai, I know you need to have people you can rely on to protect this place, people you can trust to oversee the day to day running of this place, however if the very same people are seldom here and when they are show little or no interest whats the point??? and also what is the point in owning this place if you 3 seldom use it to post about things PNE, or do you come on here in ALT format???

I just don't get it, I was one who campaigned hard against Dirk when he gave fans an alternative, one thing is for sure though that Dirk and his mod's would have enjoyed using their forum and contributed to it massively. (note to self, what a twat).

You can take this as mod bashing if you want (however in my own style I am trying to be constructive) and work with a few decent members (Bardy, Preston Lad, Spavin, JD, Budgie, Llanroc etc) and improve this place or is this the best you can offer us???

Spot on Bill, it does need some red intervention to calm the troops. Just a statement about what the website is and where it wants to go. Freedom is the best, personality clashes when they get unmanageable (it happens in real life) on a web forum should be dealt with with equal disdain. Bans or what ever. But some higher level intervention could have reall sorted the pidgeons from the flys..whatever the saying is.

Bullshit more beaurocracy. The problem at the world. Lets throw more pollies, money, recources at the problem. Attack the source. The fact thaqt our society is becoming a shithole does not seem to matter..lets throw more money at fuckers who do not have a clue.

Lets build up industry and give these fuckers a sense of being would be my call. Or does the government want everybody to go get a degree with the debt and no fucking chance of paying it back without sacrificing their own fucking kids? The future. Are we to pander the the wealthy fucking poor in the world or do we need the pooir to grow some balls?

Agree with Bardas and Bill about the extra mods - apart from the workload, it means that a single mod isn't left alone to deal with everything. I often see poor 6p left online in the small hours fighting a lone battle against the spam-bots.

It also means that you have a broader range of skills and personalities - this thread needed someone who wasn't afraid to take decisive action. Bardas or Bill, off the top of my head, would not have let this escalate.

I also like the idea of sin bins, where posters can be sent to cool off while the mods decide what to do, because the present infractions process is not working. Even making someone step back from a debate from an hour can make a huge difference.

I don't think so, thanks. I already spend 10-14 hours a day working in front of a computer screen, so the last thing I want to do in my spare time is spend time working in front of a computer screen. This forum is where I like to unwind sometimes.

That's one of the reasons why I won't criticise the mods - they do something that I am not prepared to do myself. 🙂

From a practical point of view having more mods shares the load (and maybe covers extra timezones) that said it isn't perfect, a lot of decisions(not all) are made on consensus, with the current numbers once you get to 3 or 4 people in agreement then normally it carries, if you have more mods then potentially you have to wait longer to make sure the consensus is as you think. Not a deal breaker but it is a complicating factor, or you have to devolve even more power to the mods to take decisions "on their own", though in the past that has caused issues for the opposite reason i.e. occasionally you get a maverick making decisions that weren't in keeping with the wider view when subsequently discussed as a group

On the latter stuff, sin bins and various other methods of trying to placate/defuse situations have been chucked out there to see if any are technically viable

I was reading it all but getting involved is futile on this type of thread. I was responding to a very direct accusation by you, which you have since failed to back up.

Mods are tied by confidentiality so people are lying through their teeth but we can't say anything because it isn't public domain. If we showed people up for who they really are then we'd suddenly be the bad guys.

People have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. The amount of time I've spent debating things in the Mod Forum recently has been vast. I wish I was getting paid overtime for it!

Sometimes the best course of action as a moderator is to do nothing and let people show their true colours to the forum. You guys are a good judge of character and suss people out.

Sorr mate a mod, just like any leader sometimes has to make a decision. To me this episode needed the two partie to be dealt with equallyy. Mossy is just arguing about the system and Raef just blew a valve. We all know this shit has been brewing Ron. Fuck me are you gonna lead us into battle in the next WW?
