It's interesting that you make the point about his age as I coach 7 year olds that have a better touch than him. For all those that say his touch will develop in time - it won't. If he hasn't got it by now he never will.

.

Agree with this. I too coach kidas who have a better first touch than him (his second touch is a tackle). Surely a good first touch should be a prerequisite for any professional footballer?

This lad cannot be classed as a professional footballer. he useless. he is non league standard and would struggle to make longridge towns bench. First touch dreadful, finishing dreadful, passing dreadful, say no more. 4 subs against carlisle please grezza leave him at home.

I was on the bench for Longridge last season and i take great offence by that comment 😉.

In all seriousness he is a big lad who can do a decent job of holding the ball up, he is obviously still a raw talent which may or may not turn out to be a decent footballer. Either way we haven't really got any other options when we have our other strikers out injured.

He tried to control 3 of them but they bounced off his shin and flew into the net.

As for the comment that he needs to put on weight? That's all he needs when he's trying to catch the ball for his second touch - a belly full of pies.

His big goal in Germany against Bayern seemed to rather bounce off him too.

You're obviously right about the 'touch' thing.

It's like 'timing' at cricket. You either have it or you don't. I don't and I'm a decent local league standard player......

meh. I thought he did half decent when he came on, the abysmal touch when through on goal aside.

Definitely seen worse displays. Mellor puts them in every other week.

It was a terrible touch when he was one on one but that can be worked on and improved. Scoring goals is the thing you can't teach 20 year old strikers but that's okay because he's good at that.

Hmmm not sure thats right, Macken's first touch when he arrived wasn't great yet he went on to become the best back to goal striker we've had in many a year.

The memory can play tricks Tino but I recall that Macken's problem was that he just couldn't score and he improved cos he started getting in the right areas.

Unfortunately the lad can trap it further than I am able to kick it. If there are only 4 subs against Carlisle our 14 year old cat is free to make up the numbers - he would do a better job.

We wil have to wait & see if he makes the top three North End worse strikers of all time.

Three that spring to mind that I've had the misfortune to witness are; Erik Meijer, Tony Lormor & David Johnson.

You forgotten Vernon Allet Bill?

Felt sorry for the lad but what impressed me was the manner in which Unsworth praised him for getting the opportunity rather than castigating him for a shocking first touch - like most I was shouting abuse at the telly but I must say that Unsworth's approach was very positive.

I'd backed Preston at 100-30, you should have heard the language in my front room!

Lancashire - what a signing he should have been.

Rest all shite. Sissoko was best as he came out to warm up he'd do a swivel trick and then shoot into the empty net. He tried it once and the shot went out for a 'throw in'.

Edit: Meijer wasn't that bad actually but didn't look like scoring. Was partnered by Bjarki though!
