An injury to Hughes will be devastating. Lose him and there's no spare bodies for a wide defensive positionSo currently we have Brady, Thompson, Vukcevic, Pol, Potts, McCann and Gibson out injured which is really far from ideal at this stage of the season where games are going to start coming thick and fast.
The addition of Jamal Lewis is fine but it will surely take him 3 or 4 weeks to get up to match fitness. That will leave us with Offiah, Storey, Hughes, Lindsay and Small to cover 5 positions in the team for the next 3 games minimum.

Yep. Which is fucking laughable really, how can we be so heavily reliant on such an injury prone, average player ffsAn injury to Hughes will be devastating. Lose him and there's no spare bodies for a wide defensive position

It would force us to play a back 4 using Small, Lindsay, Storey and Offiah.
I'd give one of the academy lads a spot on the bench for it but (no offence to them) I've not heard anyone that's an absolute standout for that position?Yep. Which is fucking laughable really, how can we be so heavily reliant on such an injury prone, average player ffs

Which would basically be surrendering 3 points because he can’t defend in a 5, nevermind a 4It would force us to play a back 4 using Small, Lindsay, Storey and Offiah.

It's particularly galling that that one U21 we have for that position, in Pasiek, is seemingly also injured! As is Josh Seary, of course, though not sure he would still be here if we weren't helping him recover.

Also can't forget how utterly shambolic Lindsay plays in a back 4 where he gets absolutely torn apart.
As much as I love Potts and could do a job at WB, is he ever going play in a PNE shirt again? Where could he even fit into the squad with Devine and Armstrong making their respective positions theirs?
Good in the air though, can dive like an absolute salmon for a header on goal 😉Also can't forget how utterly shambolic Lindsay plays in a back 4 where he gets absolutely torn apart.
I have the impression that Hecky makes his substitutions later than most managers but can’t find data on that
Hughes has had a great season but just based on his history, it is a miracle he hasn’t broken down yet this season. If he gets through this week with 3 matches he’ll have done bloody well.

With the midfielders and attackers being of better quality the defence hasn’t been quite as stretched as previous seasons. It might be a reason why he hasn’t broken down yet?
Crunched some numbers:I have the impression that Hecky makes his substitutions later than most managers but can’t find data on that
Over the last 12 (league games) the average time for Hecky to have made a sub is in the 71st (71.27) minute for 33 unique substitution time periods
*Last 12 League games only
*Only counted one sub in each time slot e.g. if 3 players came on in 'x' minute, only counted as one unique sub
*Similarly omitted subs that arguably fall within some sub period e.g 3 players came on in 71st minute, time it took to get all subs on and off may have ticked it over to 72nd minute, discounted as they're not unique sub periods
*Times taken from FotMob; other apps available and may differ slightly in timings
*Shit at maths tbh

He has played at least 39 games in three of the last four seasons. How many games do you need to miss to be classed as injury prone.Yep. Which is fucking laughable really, how can we be so heavily reliant on such an injury prone, average player ffs
He has been a good player for us also.
Fire in Southampton the day before the game
Anyone else getting major Deja vu?
Probably would've won that evening if it hadn't have been called off. Felt very bad for the travelling fans however.
Was it Bazunu with the heroics at the death on the rearranged fixture?

The rearranged game we got battered 3-0. Didn’t have a chance.
I think we started with a midfield of Whatmough and Mawene if memory serves me right. No that was the home game.
