Team v Will Still’s (?) Saints

The loss of Gibson and Andy V would be a hammer blow but Linds doesn't let you down and slotted in well last Friday. Small needs to be on the left where he is so effective. I agree with Doyler we can still put out a strong team, the last thing we need is Still been sacked, leave it till after the game Saturday. Winning there and going into the next international break would be a real boost and give us time to get the injured lads back

Except for all the numerous times he’s let us down since joining

We’ll be OK until about 65 mins on Saturday but will be very vulnerable when unable to make changes at wing back.
I think he should look to maybe change to a back four later on in the game to try and protect the exertion of Offiah and Small over these next few games, whilst not having to revert to a flat back five, back against the wall tactic.

Really got nothing against the bloke at all evidently gives his all, but a good substitute performance seems to have erased the last 3 years for some people.
It does every time he has a half decent performance. Never known a North End player benefit from recency bias like him

Another reason to play with a back 4 IMO. Let Hughes and Offiah largely stay back, not over exerting themselves to provide the attacking width, and to give extra support to Lindsay and Storey.

Well there are a lot of fans who don’t agree .

He has made mistakes like every other player we have had over the last 3 years.

He has also put in some heroic performances.

He is your traditional big stopper, no one bullies him, Gibson and Storey have been bullied.

We are all quite aware he isn’t the quickest , but his positioning especially in the box and the number of headers and blocks he makes are exceptional.

On Friday for all their pace Gibson and Storey were made to look poor, they didn’t read the game right, it happens, they were badly out of position. All players make mistakes, hopefully their colleagues are covering for them.

But this criticism of his performances over the last 3 years is incorrect in my opinion.

Now I’m not calling anyone names or being offensive, I’m giving my opinion, and I will read other opinions and maybe comment, but none of the abuse please.

With a fully fit squad I’ve no doubt we could go there and get a result. Still think we might anyway, we just have no reserves in defence/wingback if things don’t go to plan.

The big question is still will will still still be there.

If Will Still is still there will we win? Or will our chances improve if Will Still is sacked? Will he or won't he? Still waiting for an update.

*******
Gibson Pol Vukevic ******
Brady Potts McCann Thompson
Keane ******

That’s nearly a whole team sidelined currently.

3 more and you could play that team in a Championship game.

Mind you I don’t think we are the only club with injury issues.

Think this probably sums it up for me, the reason we've had to sit so deep is to accomodate him for the past few years as his limitations make it impossible not to, massively impacting on how the rest of the side has to set up.

No abuse from my side, everyone's allowed their opinion. But from watching the past few seasons, he's been ever present in a side that's been dull to watch and concedes 2, 3 or even 4 on far too many occasions. "Bullied" might not be the right term, but I've seen a few make a tit of him on several occasions to the point where he's had to rag them down receiving a second yellow or straight red in the process. Or you could just go back and watch what McBurnie did to him a few weeks ago.

He started every game in the 23/24 season. You have to go back to the 11/12 season in League One since we last conceded more.

There's no other argument to be made. When he starts consistently, we concede lots of goals. That's it. Im not interested in heroic performances, or him never being bullied (Oli McBurnie would like a word). The hard facts are the more games he starts, the more we concede.

It's all well and good lots of fans not agreeing, but they're just incorrect, it doesn't add any weight to the argument

Well the bit about Gibson and Vukcevic being assessed before the next match holds out a bit of hope that they might be back fairly quickly. Admittedly the way Gibson was walking off last Friday doesn't make a return this side of the international break seem likely though you never know, but maybe there is a realistic possibility Vukcevic could do so.
As for the longterm absentees I am not even certain what is wrong with them. In retrospect it is a pity we didn't accept the offer for Potts and that we did give Brady a further deal but if PH thought at the time those were the right things to do then fair enough. You would guess, though, that their extended absences and that of Keane have put paid to any notion of their getting deals beyond this season so that should mean at least three senior squad places becoming available next summer which is when is when realistically we might see a squad that is pretty well entirely what PH wants it to be.
