Stewart isn’t like that, long term prospect and by all accounts a good one.

Ramsey is just typical our look, could have been a good attacking option to bring off the bench.

But I also think we will have him back again next season regardless.
There are no “long term” prospects at North End. Anyone who’s any good is sold on quicker than you can say “John Bird”. 😜😜

I think he will play MFJ because of the stick he got at the weekend for not bringing him on. But I also feel like he'll start Woodburn because of 'how good he's been in training laaaa'.

Either way, we need to win. I think we could see a lot of changes for this one.

Does anyone think RL will improve Stewart and get him to fulfill his potential

Simply to have two sets of four across the pitch......we are way too easy to beat down the flanks playing 3-4-2-1 or 4-2-3-1

It also gives Whiteman total control playing out from the centre backs, we just don`t need two holding players at home.

Maybe this but move Holmes to RW and Millar to LW, with Mads in for Brady.

Seems we see similar, I posted this below yesterday morning on the XG thread, in reply to @Warton PNE.

Where I will agree with you is that we need to be more attack minded at home starting 2 up top.

Based upon our current fit players.

Woodman
Potts Storey Lindsay Best
Holmes Browne Millar
Mads
Osmajic Ched

Mads HAS to drop back when required, along with Holmes and Millar, to support Browne when defending. Imperative that he is disciplined to do so to make this work.

The crucial area of the pitch and improvement for myself is on the flanks.

Whereas we currently have "wingbacks" occupying both defensive and attacking positions, here we have the defensive players (Potts, Best) guarding these parameters (with licence when required to provide forward support) whilst Holmes, Millar occupy the attacking wing segments with the onus on them to provide defensive help when required.

The above alone will (a) conserve individual energy thus hopefully eliminating fatigue, see Millar (b) allow for a more fluid attacking and defensive strategy rather than one man either side soaked up with the double burden of attack - defend - defend -defend - attack - attack.

Hope this makes some kind of sense.

Lindsay at LCB? He can't play there and doesn't look comfortable there at all. Centre of a back three only really the deepest of the three to sweep up.

I really have no idea who will start but knowing our Ryan he might go for this:

Woodman

Storey, Lindsay, Best

Potts, Browne, Whiteman, Ledson, Brady

Osmajic, Woodburn

I really hope Hughes is fit or it could be a long afternoon.
Agreed, didn’t think Coventry were great against WBA however they did carve out some decent chances against a much better defence then ours. If Hughes is fit enough he needs to play, sod easing him back in.

He’s only a young lad and not knocking him but not quite convinced Best is quite up to first team speed yet. Lovely left foot but feel other parts of his game stilll need developing. I suppose you could say similar about Beckham though (re other foot obv !)

Loaning him out would be preferable if we had two LCBs who weren't injury prone and we had a reliable LWB.

So far the experienced Brady hasn't really offered anything better than Best has, and Millar is an out & out winger who can't defend to save his life.

I'd much rather have Best playing as an LCB in a back three than cement clogs, Lindsay if it came down to it.

We really do need two forwards on the pitch though and playing as two forwards, Osmajic has already shown he is not really capable of playing the lone striker role.🤔❓

I don’t think the two forwards is the issue….it’s leaving the lone striker too isolated.
If we play with 3 centre halves we can only have one sitting midfielder and the rest should be offensive and on the front foot.

We may have to agree to disagree, I'm note sure the lone striker role suits any of our forwards, Osmajic would certainly benefit more with say Ched playing up top, alongside him, winning the ball and laying it off for him, more so than any help from forward playing midfielders.🤔

Potts, Storey, Lindsay, LCB, LWB,
Whiteman.
That's the defence sorted, we've got 4 places left, sorry 3 because Browne is captain, know wonder we are on a bad run at the moment
