The best keeper in the division!

The best keeper in the division!

Can you name these games that Lonners has played well?????

I can name pleny he has played poorly.

It will be much easier for me as I will be able to copy and past the last 2 seasons fixtures!!!

You've seen him play good games? So have I, last one Sheff United in the first leg of the play offs three seasons ago, although I'm informed he had a good game away at Coventry this season, I wasn't there.

Brown has witnessed a keeper playing absolutely shit since he came in, in private I can't imagine him singing his praises.

yeah but some of those games in between won't be bad games either Shaky, a bit easy to blame the last 18 months on 1 player, and if we do drop him, who comes in? will he be better really? I think we all know our sub is only an emergency replacement. You could try and replace but we are losing as a team, not because of a bad goaly. Collectively he's made mistakes too but so have others. But as i'm sure you do, lets at least back him on the terraces for now, when he's gone you can judge him. Hes been a fantastic servant, and a model proffessional to the club. Its up to the managers to pick the team and they've all picked him, even Billy Davis until he got injured.

No because you fail to answer my question? You have no foundation and your hounding a great servant to Preston North End. Yes hes made mistakes but he doesn't pick the team he only tries his best. And because of your one opinion against many proffessional managers and players opinions you still think your 100% right. You also think by listing performances over the last 2 years which will be my alone opinion and yours will make a debate clearer. I know Peter Schemichel is a great keeper if not the greatest but like lonergan i can only vaguely remember certain saves. I build an opinion over time like yourself and i know hes not the greatest, i know he has his faults but hes certainly not the fall guy your claiming him to be. You claim he been poor for the whole of the last 2 seasons where i claim that just before Irvine was sacked (12 or whatever games it was) we've been poor collectively and then had far too many fall outs.

Unforunately some players play for managers these days, not the club or the fans as thats who they see day in, day out.

I may add, Lonergan has always played for the club, the manager is irrelevant to him! Never got involved in the politics, hes just got on with it, never any trouble and liked around the club but i can see another Mckenna moment happening here!

Don't talk stupid, my sister would have caught that chest high cross that he pathetically punched for the second goal, and nobody mentioned that soft cross bouncing across the six yard box at the Kop end that two defenders watched in disbelief as Lonergan stayed rooted to his line, thankfully there was no Bristol City player that realised how shit he is that even made an effort for it, so sure were they that it was the keepers ball.

Yes, St Ledger is consistently shit lately, but he isn't praised as "the best in the division" and "worth £20,000,000" by dimwits.

i have never praised the goalie as "the best etc" or "worth 20 etc" yet you feel the need to add this after my comments. To ignore the woefull schoolboy defending is failing to see the cause of the goals concededed on saturday, your personal agenda against the keeper is clouding your and others here's ability to be objective.
maybe we should sign your sister ? can she deal with a long ball ? ;-)

Probably better than Lonergan, yes, and she's 55.

I can see the shit defence, but far too often they are blamed for Lonergans failings.

If you cant understand that conceding soft goals like that invites pressure and knocks confidence then what you know about football can be wrote on a postage stamp. Even if we score 1 it can be pretty certain Lonners will make a mistake and invite the pressure back on.
Have you ever played football? Do you understand the pressure that conceding a goal when your in charge of a game can bring?

Yes I have and yes I can.

In no way have i ever said i dont mind conceding goals and yes conceding soft goals puts pressure on the team.

I am a defender mate and I know this as much as anyone but dont worry about my credentials to have an opinion 🙄 I also know when to hold my hand up because Ive let my keeper down, I also know when to be disapointed in my keeper because hes made a mistake and I also know when to give our forwards some stick because when your team cant hit a cows arse with a banjo it heaps even more pressure on the defence.

You've attempted to put words into my mouth with regards conceding soft goals and the importance of it, as Ive never said you can get away with this, what I have said is that the mistakes are coming from everyone, not just Lonergan, we are losing games because of performances all over the pitch and the people who stay blind to this are naive. On saturday Lonergan was less at fault for that defeat than:
St ledger (vital error)
Brown (vital error)
Barton (if you dont do anything, you wont do anything wrong)
Ellington and Russell (their misses were the equivalent of lonergan letting a soft pass back under his foot).

what you cant seem to understand is that its a team game.

What exactly did he do wrong today? First and second goals were both St Ledger's fault, though the second was probably a collective effort of the back four and 3 and 4 were just City gliding through our gash defence.

I scrolled through from page 1 as far as this mail - and then abandoned this thread in disgust.

Lonergan may as well be a mute, as far as communication skills go.

I agree.

I've heard hilarious news about Lonergan, apparently his agent has been touting him about all over the place, with no success. The best response was from the Lashers though, who apparently laughed at his agent and told him that that "He's nowhere near good enough for the Championship, let alone the Prem!"

They're correct as well.

The above is totally at odds with what I've heard.

I couldn't give a fuck, I was howling with laughter when I heard.

Must admit I had a little chuckle.

Shows how much things have changed when we are using claims about our closest rivals negative opinions on our players as an argument, especially when its a player they once took on loan of us when we were above them. Thanks alot Paul, Alan and Darren.

Well you heard wrong.

You worshippers only hear what you want to hear anyway.

Whereas you detractors..........;-)

BTW, dogman, I am not a 'worshipper', I recognise that Lonergan has his faults (as do most players at this level and below) but neither do I have a pathological hatred of the player-as I've said before, you have issues ;-)
