It is Westley's fault! The state of the pitch has nothing to do with the snow clearing, today
Stevie Wonder would be able to see the damage has been caused by overuse!
I presume you did attend?
No unfortunately I cannot attend at the moment due to health reasons, but the point still stands that it would be more than just overuse causing problems - I will admit that training on it won't help, but if they can't train anywhere else - or if they want to train there then I say let them - we drew today with a better performance according to many so I'm happier!
I don't understand why others can't be at least a little bit happier and instead people are concentrating on the pitch as a stick to beat Westley with this week.

The groundsmen are well and truly pissed off at the moment.
Everything is Westley's fault... This is Pne-online, where the magniloquent amongst us gather to drive out another manager believing that will solve everything!
Presumably deliberately ironic?

It is damaged from training on it every day for the last two weeks. Nothing to do with weather.

Or could be due to that and the fact we had horrendous snow and therefore needed tractors on it early this morning? I despair, people are clutching at straws here. I remember a game where 'King Billy' drew back the covers so the game would be called off as he didn't fancy it - yet people want him back. One rule for one though and all that!
If you seriously think tractors caused the damage, you were'nt actually at Deepdale today!
Just seen your previous reply,
so please ignore. Hope you recover soon.

I don't think Westley is the only problem but he signed and trained them and his team tinkering is legendary 5 changes again today . We average 3/4 changes every game so no hope of a settled side , as for fans not making Deepdale a cauldron its a 2 way street and they should lift each other . and Curry will be ready in about an hour , madras and pilau its my match day treat .
I love my Saturday dillis curry special! The changes may have worked out today, having remembered the JPT game Beavon and Garner had very poor games against their centre backs so perhaps all week Coventry have done their work in training based on facing the same players - Cummings has come in and scored - what more can Westley and us fans ask for?
Well done Cummings.
It is a two way street and hopefully today and in the future we will see a turning point and slow rebuilding of the relationship between the club and the fans, because let's face it we need it!

Westley had them training on the pitch to get them used to playing at Deepdale. He said that himself in the week. Trust me here, it was a real state. Worst I've seen it in over a decade.

We could have had one of the pitches at Springfields covered every night and trained on that all week, but it's been a deliberate tactic to train on it and rip it up this week. I think the way Walsall completely out-footballed us was pretty much the last straw for Westley in terms of trying to match teams.
You can see from his line up today of Cummins and King upfront that he wanted a long ball game plan and just slog it out in midfield. Although Coventry tried (and succeed in bits) that pitch cannot now offer a passing game to any team, and watching Monakana trying to run with the ball at feet when it was jumping a foot in the air every other bounce was laughable.
We won't get beat that often at Deepdale now, but the qualify of "football" will only deteriorate IMO. Today was as entertaining as it's been for a while so maybe there is some merit in it, but it's no coincidence that the proper footballers in the team like Garner, Beavon, Welsh etc were left out.
Results will improve, but it won't be football for the purists.

We can't have trained at springies all week and got the players 'used to playing at Deepdale' though could we? Obviously this is something that has come out of a team meeting or management meeting and today we drew. Personally I'm happier today than I was after the Walsall game, yet people seem to be concentrating on the pitch...
I just don't get it. I guess we'll see how bad the pitch gets over the next few weeks and how it effects performances (converting losses into draws, draws into wins), which is the most important thing after all!!!
Time for that curry! COYW
It's not just in the last two weeks he has been training on it.
He has been training on it at least a couple of times a week since he took over.
The pitch is as poor as I've seen it but it was nowhere near this bad vs Walsall. The poor weather since then with the tractors haven't done it any favours and is the main contributor imo, especially considering we have been training on it for months.
Credit to the staff for getting the game on, an enjoyable one as well!

Every day for the last two weeks I was told by a groundsman today. He also said sarcastically, 'im really proud of it.'

He retired not long after that.

Groundsmen put a hell of a lot of time and effort into what they do, and with that must come a lot of pride. It must be a.kick in the teeth to then have it abused on a daily basis and end up looking like shite.

Abused? Isn't a pitch meant for playing on? Christ, worden park is played on more times and it still has grass on it.
