Matchday Thread The Plastics v Preston North End - 10/11/23 - KO:8PM - Championship

I think the size of the support at their place these last few years has really rattled them big time, (and no one off too) local derby or not!!
That's bad enough for the plastics but the wins just send them into a complete foot stamping tantrum.....i mean how dare 'little old Preston' with no significant success in 60+ years bring so many fans, still have so many fans and even worse beat them in there own back yard......oh ye it's Premier League in-waiting Blackburn and we're always spoiling there delusional party.
It comes across as total insecurity about North End and the fear that one day at long last US and not them will reach the promised land and if we do i'm sure our fan retention will also be better than Blackburn's if we slipped back down to the Championship.
Every win against 'the delusional,s' is extra special especially for us South Ribble Whites.....to ram it up 'the enemy within'.....the deserters!.....long may they keep on spitting their dummy out. UTWs.

Part of the strange entitlement is actually fed from the club though.

They had someone by the tunnel waving a giant flag with a picture of Jack Walker holding the Premier League trophy.

Maybe we should get a flag with William Suddell holding the league trophy when we play them at Deepdale.

Always remember about 500 of them singing "you've never won fuck all" at us in the IPS.

Maybe we should have an invincibles day, dressed up as a celebration of the founder members. It would make sense for this to coincide with rovers games.
Tannoy announcement 'as fellow founder members we invite you to join in our appreciation of the three pioneers if football- the invincibles.

Absolutely Scally.
Being originally from Leyland but living in Preston now, the stick I used to get, particularly around the time of their Premiership title win was unbearable!
You could go back further than that though.
Even at the time of the Lancs Manx Cup games back in the early to mid 80's, they thought they were vastly superior to us!!
Before the Jack Walker takeover in the old Division 2, they'd get crowds of around 8-9,000 an nothin more.
I think they forget about all that!

Exactly.
How come, after more than half a century of fuck all are we still here?
How come after 62+ years outside the top flight is our support still matching/beating there’s?

Deep, deep down, they all have a feeling we are right and they know it’s because they’re PLASTIC.

They averaged about 6000 in the mid/late 80s when ourselves (under McGrath) and Burnley were getting bigger gates in the old third and fourth division.

In 1987 both ourselves (Division 4) and Burnley (Division 3) had higher average attendances. I think Don Mackay was their manager and was slated by their fans, when he commented on how difficult it was to get them into the ground, especially when just down the road there were teams who didn’t have that problem.

Same period for us.
Note that we never get out of the bottom two divisions and haven’t been anywhere near the top 2 in ages, yet our support until they make the Prem, is similar to theirs and sometimes better. Even though they’re in Division 2.

Oh, you're back at full time...

As a "newbie" maybe you should concede that people who were there at the time might know what they were talking about,

or,

and I make no apologies for the slight change in tone here,

fuck off back to AVFTT.

Ben Davies at 18 got torn to shreds by Jamal Campbell Ryce in League 1. Best has been called up to the U19 England squad and is playing regularly in the Championship without any terrible games

You’re either an idiot or a Lasher. Or both. You’ve made 7 posts and 4 have been slagging off a kid. Give it a rest, it’s embarrassing.

But he’s not 28 is he? He’s 18, a literal kid who’s still learning the game and is only starting because of injuries in that position. Stupid strawman argument

If you can’t get your head around that then you’re beyond help. But you’ve singled him out and are focusing most of your posts on criticising him. It’s pathetic

The Lasher doth protest too much.

3.5 tells you the author of that post doesn't have the first hot clue about football.
The tide is turning boys. The tide is turning. And no, 1 game doesn’t mean someone’s a bad player. Just explains how blinkered you lot are
