Lot of talk on here about not going to games because of our form. Lot of fans leaving early when we get hammered.

I’ve not once left early because of performance or result. Yes I hated it Saturday but it’s a responsibility as a fan to stick by your club no matter what. Yes have opinions but if you can’t stick by your club when you’re getting walloped you don’t deserve to celebrate when we win.

In my opinion you stick by your club ( doesn’t mean approve of the football) through thick and thin.

Thoughts?

Had close to half a century of precious little to celebrate, successful seasons I could get away with counting on a Burnley inhabitants hand.

Witnessed the appalling re-election season in all it's glory, went to Aldershot to celebrate finishing 91st out of 92 teams, have seen countless shit teams represent our club (plus a few good ones for balance) and yet still I've still turned up.

Done the odd runner out of the ground but Saturday was a new low. Must have been 20 minutes to go when I left.

I'd like to think I (plus countless others) have the right to decide for myself whether I want to witness any more and not be questioned as to my "responsibility" as to having to watch 20 more minutes of upsetting tortuous football.

Of course you do. But how can you celebrate the good times? The wins, top of the league, late winners etc if you don’t have the bottle to stay when we’re getting hammered? I don’t understand it?

Responsibility? You must be having a laugh
Completely. We can all support city or whoever is dominant at the time. We can all celebrate the good times. So we have a responsibility (if we call ourselves supporters and not people who just watch . Which is perfectly fine) to sit through the shite. Do we not?

Sounds like he’s seen more than sufficient bad times to me.

And “the bottle“? Really?
No argument with your first sentence. Undoubtedly there will be more.

Absolutely bottle. Easy to walk out at 4-1, 3-1 , 5-1. Test of character. I’d wager nobody walked out at stoke when we went top

Interesting, You expect fans to stick to a fake responsivity when the players and coaching staff can't keep to the one they paid to do.

So Fans MUST pay their money and stay to the end, but the Players and coaches can take that money and fail to show up.

Fans responsivity ended when they paid to get in. If they want to walk back out straight away, that is their choice, They paid they can do that. No body expects results to go our way all the time, just players to try and the coaching staff to actively put some effort in, get off their arse and give instructions. Trying to the end is what sport is about, but when the Players and Coaches that are paid to be there and try and win can't be arsed, then fans have a right to Boo, leave or whatever. If you paid for Netflix, clicked a film and it didn't work, would you stay the 1 hour 30 minutes stirring at the Screen and then pay Netflix next month? No, you'd be on the phone and demanding a refund. Fans at Football can't do that, but they can darn well leave when they please.

By the way, go and look at Prem games, like Newcastle, 4-0 up and fans still leave early, happens at many prem grounds. Go post on their forums and tell them they must stay to the end and get stuck in traffic on the way out. See what response you get.

But anyway, I think what you need is a big WELL DONE for sticking it out. Would you like a Badge or a Sticker?

The comparison with Netflix is ridiculous. Nobody supports Netflix.

As for leaving early 4-0 up, that’s clearly logistical. Not sulking. See the difference?

Because I reserve that right to do so.

Very well done on being an elite supporter.
You’d do well to go and follow Blackpool and be amongst the self proclaimed best fans in Europe.
Completely agree.

I take it you just politely applaud when we win? Or do you get a buzz from it? If so do you feel justified when you can’t sit through our losses?

Friday sorry
I think you meant Saturday!

As for your main points, I guess I felt pretty much like you when I was young. And to this day I have never left a game early just because cause we’re losing. And I am the sort who never gives up on any game / sport while there’s a chance, no matter how far I am behind.

I long since relaxed my view on what makes a good supporter and your view sounds rather extreme and a bit condescending.
Secretly though- I do kind of empathise quite a lot. But don’t tell anyone 😆

Correct I did. I got mixed up.

Point stands though. If you want to celebrate the good, you stick through the bad

Full credit for never leaving early whilst losing. It’s backbone like yours that our great club needs and deserves

I honestly think that supporting to the end might just, once a season, help the team keep going to the end (and how often have we looked at the table and wished we had just one more point, or even just on goal better GD)… but also help players feel more up for games in general.. a bigger feeling that results really do matter. It aggravates me when people piss off early - but it’s no one’s duty and they can celebrate all they like.

Nowadays, i am in no position to look down on people leaving early though, because I’m rarely able even to get to the start of any!

If you "don't understand it", please feel free to check out just how many "good times" there have been here in the last 60 plus years.
An if you do that, then you might, just might, start to "understand" it
