Ouch ! That must be a big wage bill, looking at that list it needs thinning out a bit, and people have the nerve to moan about Trev !

32 players (excluding the kids). That won’t be cheap. Injuries aside, we need to get shut of ten players and bring in 3-4 new. Won’t happen easily.
 
Is that a 46 man squad, including exiles?
Where Ridsdale is concerned, there is always something going on behind the scenes.
Based on the fact the squad is huge, and that money is being spent, I hypothosise that there may be one or two players already lined up to exit the club this month. Barkhuizen, for instance, would be a player that several managers will have their eyes on, and for whom Ridsdale will demand at least £5 million, despite the injuries that have left the squad threadbare.

Is Spurr fit enough to be moved on?

New loans to be found for Hudson, O’Connor and possibly Burke (if injury list reduces)?

Can we return Barker and Nmecha if we want to?
 
A squad next season of senior pros, as it stands...

Keepers: Rudd, Maxwell, Crowe. The feeling is that Maxwell will leave, perhaps with a loan to come in for the rest of the season. Another loan for Hudson next season? (3)
Defence: Huntington, Clarke, Davies, Hughes, Fisher, Storey, Earl. (7)
Midfield (and 10's): Ledson, Browne, Pearson, Gallagher (further year), DJ, Harrop, Burke (7)
Wide: Ginnelly, Barkhuizen, Robinson, Bodin (4)
Forwards: Maguire, Moult, Stockley (3)

Total: 24
18 in a match day squad, so a surplus of 6.

This is of course a starting point and doesn't include any more incomings (RB, Potts....) or departures through sales i.e. the ones we actually want to keep.
Plus Walker, Simpson, Howard, Baxter, Stead, O'Reilly.

Out of the outfield players above there's probably only Burke and Fisher I wouldn't mind departing.

Gone: Spurr, Boyle, Woods, Vermijl, O'Connor, Pringle, Barker (loan finished), Nmecha (loan finished)

We have a smaller wage bill than Bolton. We're doing well financially.

Would we save anything? Presumably we would have to pay up the last 6 months of his contract.

Good business from Barnsley that. They must look at the development some of our players have made in recent years
