Did anyone hear David Unsworth interview on Radio Lancs tonight Re playing Paul Coutts In CM for Saturdays game, He was asked about why he played Coutts in CM & How it would make us fans happy also with him playing in CM, Unsworths response to the question was that Paul Coutts is a Cm player(said it in a Forceful mannor aswell) & that they wanted to make the team more balanced by playing the right players in their normal postions etc, so at least himself & GA both agreed with most of us fans that Coutts had to play CM to get the best out of him.

Maybe, Brownie was playing him out of position to make him look shite, that way no one would want to buy him come January.

I noticed the same thing in Unsworth's interview on PNE player. He said that Coutts is a central midfielder, prefers to play central midfield and so they thought that's where he should be. Similar comments about left footers on the left, right footers on the right, balance, square pegs in square holes etc. Phil Brown was special in a way because he couldn't see what was bleeding obvious to everyone else.🙄

Also proves one of two things:
1) Nobody had the balls to tell him he was wrong.
2) Brown's ego is bigger than we all thought.

Perhaps Unsworth did a few weeks back when there was the rumoured fall out ?

Didn't the senior players tell him pretty forcefully at the heart-to-heart team meeting about 3 or 4 weeks ago?
You could argue that Brown had made one or two concessions... but overall, option 2 seems like the one I'd pick.
............edit.. Cromie makes a good point too !

to be fair, it isn't the bloody Krypton Factor, it's damn obvious that Coutts should be playing Centre Midfield

Clark Carlisle said on Sky toight, "The players had had the shackles taken off them."
I wondered how long it would take. There's always one or two players that speak out against the sacked manager, with the same old blah blah blah. Brown deserved to be sacked, why don't these players have the balls to say so?
Just looked at the Oxford English dictionary under ego
The description was:
An orangy looking man that talks the talk, would happily encourage the drama of an on the pitch team talk, loves to stare out fans on the way to the tunnel, would happily name drop any unrelated alleged football success story, has an odd accent, drives an X6, eats stotties type of man
Is this Phil brown I wonder?

He also said that he knew from his experience that Mayor could play either on the left or the right side. In his last reserve game he (Unsworth) also played a right back in midfield. Against Carlisle he will have to play someone out of position at left back. Don't get too hung up about it or you'll end up as a bitter and twisted old man mourning the demise of proper football and ankle protecting boots.

Or perhaps Brown was just looking for his one year salary payoff? That's the only explanation which makes any sense to me.
I've thought the same for a long time.
