Voldemort's Return

Voldemort's Return

Getting Michael Appleton as manager is not the right decision in my opinion. We need an experienced manager to get us out of this mess.

Correct. Appointing a totally untried manager would be a ridiculous gamble & will never happen. He may come across as a bit of a dick at times, but Phil Brown may just be our best bet due to his success at Hull, but their are no guarantees in football, apart from the fact Ferguson will get us relegated if he stays.

With all due respect Andrew you advocated using youngsters for the whole team and look where that has got us🙄 You don't know what an inexperienced Michael Appleton would/would not bring but, going on your last know it all in respect of youngsters, I will rely on Mr Hemmings and Mr Lindsay to decide who should be next manager (if anyone). Thanks for your suggestion though😛

I'd welcome Micky Appleton being involved at North End though I can't see him swapping being a coach at WBA for us. There are a few people who think he will be a good manager one day and other clubs have expressed an interest - maybe it's too early but who knows with an experienced no 2 i.e. Tony Parkes. I'd sooner get relegated with Appleton than Ferguson I know that much. If he is to stay he needs to be forced to change his backroom staff - I am particularly concerned taht Lonergan has regressed materially over the last 12 months. Maybe it will not be necessary and he will be relieved of his duties tomorrow. The popular concencus is that he has upto the Ipswich game but maybe Saturday will expediate his departure. There is no grey - Fergusson is not good enough.

I've left this MB for several months and just what has happened ? Where is all the good quality serious debate in this our moment of crisis ?

The lowdown is this. From my own personal point of view when Irvine was quite correctly potted I wanted Micky Appleton to replace him. Instead Hemmings went for Ferguson. Accordingly many of us got behind him, myself included. Indeed he talked a good game and his ideals of wanting to play attacking football was what most of us wanted to hear. I was prepared to give him until the end of last season to sort things out and in that time I was prepared to see a few hammerings. He didn't disappoint. This scenario was not however supposed to encroach into the current campaign and I knew things were about to go wrong when he threw away £400K on the inept Morgan who has achieved the impossible i.e. he's even worse than Collins! An inbound Brown merely served to confirm my suspicions in that we had a clown in charge. Subsequent events have proven me right in that PNE are no longer a football club they have been reduced to the laughing stock of the championship and now enjoy the status of being a travelling circus. If a team has been on a bad run all they need do is look at the fixture list and they know that when PNE are served up on a plate that bad run will come to an end.

Those of you who attended the meeting with Lindsay heard my solution which was to appoint Appleton to the role of 1st team coach. This would provide the opportunity for the club to slowly but surely force Ferguson out and allow him to save face.Lindsay suggested they weren't happy with Fergy's backroom staff and talked about him raising the bar. Since then absolutely nothing has happened resulting instead with many fans heading for the bar.

That we are already down is certain, This fear was confirmed for me after enduring the 2:3 home defeat v Scunthorpe who had played us off the park. True to form that night Morgan proved that he wasn't a professional footballer but none other than Coco the Clown. There was no cohesion, no sense of purpose. It was a complete and utter shambles.

I've seen this all before and it's too painful to endure. We are already down and I've now accepted that in my lifetime I will never see PNE in the top flight. Three men have been mainly responsible for this lamentable scenario i.e. Simpson, Irvine and then Ferguson. Every last one of them incompetent. Every last one of them has undone the fine work that had been put in by Moyes and Davies over almost a decade.

Once the inevitable happens and we go down PNE will remain there for the next decade.
The game's up and there's no coming back from this one.As for Fergy ? Up until a few weeks ago he talked a superb game but ultimately he has been exposed as a fraud. One who is totally incapable of transferring his ideas on to the pitch.

Where have you been? If you have been reading this forum regularly during your sabbatical, you will know by now that the majority opinion is against Ferguson and in favour of him being removed. It seems to me that you have been waiting to see which way the wind is blowing and now that a force 10 has built up against Ferguson you have decided that is the way you'll go too. Apart from your idea of replacing him with the untried Michael Appleton, you are saying nothing that most people on here haven't been saying for weeks! Very disappointing return this, Mr K. 🙁

Month's Fibber month's!

Only a matter of 5 weeks ago a poll sugested that the majority were still confident hed pull us through.

Hardly months. Fact is the majority wanted the guy to succeed and have only come to accept thats unlikely in the last few weeks. So fibber is actually pretty much on the button.

Fair enough, I was speaking more from a personal point of view to be honest.

I think surely everybody wanted him to succeed. It's a pity it's not worked for him but it became clear to me after probably a month that he was 'out of his depth'.

Glad you've finally caught on though Raf, at least we finally have something in common!

We can only hope that Appleton (if he did come) turns out better than the past suggestions advocated by Voldemort. You must know also that his views DO change with the wind (usually when he thinks noone will remember his previous pontifications) and he does possess great hindsight which he tries to say is really forsight.
Welcome back Voldemort - you have been missed if only for the amusement value.

How dissappointing. I felt sure you were going to come on here and tell us all how the likes of Barton, Mayor and King were going to take us all the way to the premiership.

How so very predictable the responses from the likes of Albertan have been. OK let's spell it out for you as you are too dense to understand and here's the challenge:

1. One of my detractors to post up here a thread where I advocated trhowing in the entire youth team.

2. Did I or did I not argue during the summer we needed a "Dave Mackay" type player to orchestrate, cajole and direct the youngsters ? Russell is not and was never going to be that player.

3. As I recall it I argued for 3 youngsters to be thrown in i.e. McLaughlin, Mayor and Proctor. One of you tell me how that constitutes the entire team being comprised of our youths ?

With regards to our youths even I know that we now can't throw them in. The time isn't right because they are surrounded by clowns. And if it comes down to the fact that none of McLaughlin, Miller, Barton, Mayor or Proctor make it then that's it, we may as well fold the youth system. Before that however I would put Unsworth back in charge of their development.

As for clapping Lindsay ? At the end of the meeting I provided polite applause for him having the balls to front it out (I don't recall urging the mob on to "3 cheers for Maurice, Hip, hip....." Just before that when Lindsay was asking for the last question I pointed him to Billymacc who was standing right next to me as I knew he was going to fire off a beauty.

Still I'm dealing with the ministry of disinformation in that so many of you chaps just can't report it as it is. The reason youfail so miserably is that you aren't up to it.

3. As I recall it I argued for 3 youngsters to be thrown in i.e. McLaughlin, Mayor and Proctor. One of you tell me how that constitutes the entire team being comprised of our youths
2 out of them 3 will be playing in League 2 at best, within 3 years.

moe Proctor is an old fashioned centre froward under instructions to attack down the flanks. Result ? When the ball is delivered into the box he's nowhere near it. As for Mayor ? You can't play him now in this team because your so called "experienced' professionals have failed abysmally to help the development of these lads. I argued we need a "Dave Mackay' instead we got Darrell Russell!

And here's one for you Badlygit that will really piss you off. In the now legendary 5 Year Plan I proposed that Sean O'Driscoll could be appointed as manager. Had this happened and had the club followed the plan whereby I identifed it was not sustainable to keep signing experienced championship players with no resale value then PNE would now probably be in the Premiership. No hindsight. Merely what was proposed at the time.

He was 18 you bloody pillock, and he wasn't crap anyway.

Anyone with half a brain saw that he was class, likewise Welbeck yet both were slated by idiotic PNE fans.

The point is Danny is how we as a club have the ability to get the worst out of good players.
