wallace off

am I supposed to be happy that our best player looks about to be sold?

We can't afford to pay his 10k plus wages! The likes of St Ledger, Mellor, Chaplow, Elliott are on similar wages. St Ledger will stay as board knows he is a massive fan favourite, and believe it or not he does give a toss about the club. We also don't have anyone to replace him at centre back unless we splashed some serious coin which we can't afford to do. With Wallace however, we have Treacey and Parry who can play left wing already.

By the way, I really like Wallace. Brilliant at set pieces, a very creative player. Problem I've found is that last season he got a bit found out. And when he got 'roughed up, he wasn't involved in game. We'll get over a million for Wallace altogether, and also have a massive wage earner off the list.

Totally agree with this he's good at set pieces sometimes but often he wasn't even beating first man with his crosses. We can get a better player on half his wage no doubt!

Is the money going to be ploughed back in?

We are assuming that he does not have a minimum fee release clause in his contract. Which would take any decision out of the clubs hands.

I like Wallace, but plenty of teams in this division have lost more important players and put the funds to good effect. Ironically, Burnley and Lafferty comes to mind a few seasons ago.

Also any income from the wallace transfer could mean the board could justify letting wasters like Chaplow, Carter et al leave for considerably less as there would be funds for purchaing their replacements, and shifting them off the wage bill would be the only motivating factor.

Money will be available to buy players, but we won't be splashing out the wages that we have been doing for the last few years building up debt after debt. Trevor wants us to be run more financially sound, which would look a lot more appealing to investors, which he has been in discussions with already.

Skysports.com understands Burnley are lining up a move for Preston winger Ross Wallace.

Burnley have switched their attentions to Wallace after being frustrated in their attempts to sign Hearts wide-man Andrew Driver.

Clarets boss Brian Laws has money to spend following Steven Fletcher's move to Wolves and he is ready to make a bid for Wallace.

The former Celtic and Sunderland man has impressed at Preston since arriving initially on loan in 2008 before signing on a permanent basis a year later.

Preston boss Darren Ferguson is reluctant to lose the 25-year-old, but could cash-in on the player to raise funds for his own transfer plans.

Wallace is awful. Would be a poor signing for Burnley, However Darren Carter on the other hand...
