I asked this question before but had no replies,,,,,, do people think as in the case of Mr Muir would PNE ever admit they were wrong and put a player in a wrong position, and resign said player when they prove a revelation in their best/correct role?

Theoretically it could happen, unless Josh has completely fallen out with the club and severed all ties (which I very much doubt is the case) then he could one day return.

However, if there is to be a revelation for a "correct role" in Josh's case it's unlikely to start at Brig as he's been playing at centre back (the same position he was playing for Longridge last season). Given his height he might end up as a striker at some point but there's a rumour doing the rounds the Brig have the son of an infamous ex-Premier League striker lined-up to take on that role.

Well slightly more than a rumour. Big Dunc’s lad, Cameron played at Rammy on Tuesday night, assisted the equaliser with a superb run, turn and pass, then won and converted a spot kick. Very impressive debut with his dad in attendance. I understand Brig have him on loan from Southport for a month.

You could never rule it out. I think of how Josh Ginnelly was bought from Walsall as a young, pacy right winger and after only 6 appearances here went up to Hearts who converted him in to a powerful target man who was scoring for fun and got him a move to Swansea. I'd have had him back in a heartbeat, as I'm sure he'd have been immense in the Championship if he hadn't ruptured his achilles and been out for 15months.

Melle Meulensteen was another one. Played as a number 10 in our youth team but after returning to Holland was given a defensive role and ended up playing 25 games at CB for Sampdoria.

Think Josh was more of an attacking midfielder when he played at Cadley etc. he scored some belting free kicks. He went to that Playrmatchset up over the summer and took a shot in training it was a top bins one and was bang on target.
Their summary of him…

Congratulations to Josh Muir on signing for Bamber Bridge FC! ⚽️✍️🏽

Josh attended the NXTLVL Combine to gain exposure, build his fitness, and expand his network within the game.

A highly sought-after left-sided centre-back, Josh attracted interest from clubs at multiple levels across the non-league pyramid. Throughout the week, his attitude, professionalism, and quality on the pitch stood out, and his hard work during his trial has now been rewarded with a move to a fantastic club at a very good level.

Congratulations, Josh! Wishing you every success this season. Keep working hard, and don't be a stranger—we'll be keeping a close eye on your progress! ⚽️👊🏽

“HE’S ONE OF YOUR OWN….!!!!”
Congrats to Josh.
Followed his progress via yourself & glad all his apparent hard work gaining reward.

Thought I'd bump this thread again for those who've been following Josh's progress - however might be time for the thread to be moved to General Football?

Josh made his official debut for Brig away at Cleethorpes last week as a sub in a 2-0 defeat. He made his first start last Tuesday as Brig were hammered 1-6 in what was a humbling performance across the board for Brig.

Josh was due to be on the bench today against Ashton United but a late injury to Musa Jobe meant that Josh was drafted into the starting line up. He played 70 minutes before going off with an injury - looked like cramp but could have been a dead leg but he was up against some proper non-league battlers in Kurt Willoughby and Darius Osei so was certainly tested physicality wise. Against the odds Brig won 1-0 with the winner coming shortly after Josh went off and a certain Mikey O'Neill had come on for Ashton.

Wait, was Josh number 5?
