Free kicks. You only need to watch to know Whiteman creates pretty much nothing from open play.Whiteman with more key passes per 90 minutes than both Thordarsson and McCann.
Important we acknowledge the stats rather than shouting our pro-conceived agendas.
I’m not suggesting he walks back into the team when fit, but useful to share this.
On another note, Mads needs to keep playing over Greenwood.

I think we know the answer to that question! We’ve absolutely been a better team without him.Great but have we missed him or do we look a better side without him?

What games are watching? Completely wrong to say he creates pretty much nothing.
He creates multiple opportunities for woodman, storey, Lindsay and Hughes.

Statistics can often be twisted to suit a narrative though. not that many of Whiteman's 'passes are particularly match changing unlike 'Mads' and whilst McCann certainly has work to do on his passing range, BUT his ability to break up play far outweighs Whiteman.Whiteman with more key passes per 90 minutes than both Thordarsson and McCann.

Whitemans many yellows are nearly always because he is way too late to the ball. McCann just often takes one for the Team.
Whiteman also lacks mobility and slows things down far too much, often in situations when we are in a position where we should be pushing on!
I for one don’t miss him, I’ve never been a Whiteman fan tbh, very overrated, we’ve been much better without him.

In our best shape Whiteman can only play in the midfield anchor role, however we have two better options than him in that role.I for one don’t miss him, I’ve never been a Whiteman fan tbh, very overrated, we’ve been much better without him.
If Heckinbotham is capable of making the hard decisions - and i think he is - then Whiteman will NOT be captain by next Season.
At best he is now a reasonably decent squad member, not a first choice, but can do a job if needed to step in and us change our shape and forward thinking, to accommodate his slow, pedantic just in front of the CB's way of playing.
The 'Captain' needs to be a 'one of the first on the Team sheet' Players, who plays week in and week out, on merit.
Not, as is the case at the moment, we have to pick Whiteman BECAUSE he is the Captain.

He’ll get a go at RCM in the quarters if he’s back by then with Ledson being out. That’s the only position he stands a chance staking a claim inHas a real job on his hands getting back into this team
For me Whiteman is now a squad player, this agenda with pulling Ledson out the 11 for Whiteman is mental. Same happened last season when some how a large proportion of fans were scapegoating Ledson while being top of the league. He’ll get a go at RCM in the quarters if he’s back by then with Ledson being out. Another body for midfield would be useful with all the games we’ve still to play
At the end of the day it is a squad game and he is now a squad member and if he wants to get back in the first 11 he then needs to up his game. Goes to show only having 13 or 14 good players doesn’t help those in the team as they can become complacent and take there place for granted

I think yesterday saw us at our best under Heckingbottom - physical, in your face, full of energy, winning individual battles - it's difficult to see where Whiteman fits in to that.
Also difficult to see where we might offload him considering his age and wage.

I didn’t suggest pulling Ledson out of the lineup. I said that’s the only place Whiteman has left to fight for because he’s never replacing Thor or McCannFor me Whiteman is now a squad player, this agenda with pulling Ledson out the 11 for Whiteman is mental. Ledson is suspended for the quarters which is why Whiteman will get his chance if he’s fit

I don’t think Whiteman has the mobility to play the role Ledson played/plays - he’s too slow, not aggressive enough and flat footed.
Whiteman’s qualities lie in his passing and control of the midfield - essentially the role that Thordarson played yesterday. Going into next season Whiteman could be used as his back up but on the wages he’s on it would be a very expensive back up.

Ledson isn't exactly quick or the best tackler. No reason Whiteman can't play there just as well, if not better, despite being a different profile of midfielder.
Just because Ledson is aggressive, doesn't mean we need an aggressive player in that position.
