I also think the same with Mads. With all the movement and options we could finally start to see a more consistent Mads.
I don't think Mads will show us anything personally. I'm not sure he can do it regularly. We've seen glimpses of a player but he doesn't seem to be a ble to do it consistantly, which makes a good player. I'd get rid.

Going to be interesting. Unfortunately I think he only thrives like most in a team playing well. He was anonymous in the end of season shitshow.

Pace & Width always make a huge difference to how Whiteman plays.

The "Forward" brigade love getting on his back for keeping it simple when he had no options ahead of him. You give pacey wingbacks in Pol & Small, and he'll find them with good passes pretty frequently. Devine finding little pockets in the final third gives him that extra option too.

Good performance, probably my man of the match yesterday. Between him and Gibson anyway
No chance.
All played very well.
McCann was outstanding and easily the best player on the pitch!!!

Top assist maker last season with 5 assists, considering the next top chance creators Brady, Greenwood and KKH won’t be contributing much or at all this season, I wouldn’t be so hasty to get rid.

He works really hard and covers a lot of ground, always pressing well and looking to move the ball forward, often at times last season when the rest of the team wanted to go backwards.

I’m sure stiff competition from Devine will keep him on his toes and it’s a long old season, plenty of contributions from them both then season I suspect.

It'd be interesting to see Frokjaer with Small running beyond the full back, not Brady stopping dead 15 yards from the box, delaying the pass, or crossing from deep. Their link up is non-existent.

As a player who gravitates to the left, it's no surprise his best season came with Liam Millar providing an option ahead of him, or cutting inside. Will Keane's link up was also good that season, something Smith will offer again.

Hard to see him getting many starts with Devine here though.

With the option to buy thing at 4.5m it's in our interests to develop and start Devine almost as much as a permanent player. Could be in a situation where we just pay it on Monday and sell him for 12m on Tuesday.

Then again this is PNE and they don't like making money.

Not sure he'd sign a contract here just to be sold in 24hrs to be fair 😅

Also I’m pretty sure there’s some rule about how long you have to wait before a player can be sold? Or have I made that up?

Not sure if the rules have changed since but believe Robert Jarni was one of the shortest lived Premier League players, can't remember which club he signed from (La Liga team) or to, but then went straight to Madrid all within a week

Had a good game yesterday. Having Mccann in there with him is so important. Really hope he kicks on this season. Personally don't think he's good enough.
He’s been terrible for quite some time but he played well on Saturday, hopefully that will continue. I’m not going to go over too much old ground to list the ways in which he’s been poor but it’s as much to do with tackling, set pieces and positional play as this lazy fabled sideways and backwards nonsense that some accuse us of pointing at him.

I’d also say McCann having Whiteman next to him helps McCann, it means he’s not as tied to a position and can go after the ball like he does everywhere. If he played the Whiteman role deeper he would have to sit in more. McCann wins the ball in the opposition half so much when they are trying to play out.

McCann partnership aside, Whiteman looked fully fit on Saturday for the first time in a long time.

Rushed back from his injury at the end of last season when we were short, and having a full pre-season under his belt for the first time in 3 years and playing in a row which actually suits his attributes/profile.

Only have to look at what the manager is building physicality wise to see Whiteman's going to be fairly important this season
