4 at the back.......!!
you obviously do'nt know much about football with statments like those.
Did Scunthorpe play with a different formation to their last 9 away games of 5 wins and 4 draws?
If they did fair enough but we should have done our homework prior to the game.
Yesterday we didn't change tactics due to Scunthorpe overcoming us. Again wing backs were found to be too negative.... Humphrey was too deep and also Johnson was sitting too deep.
I could, and so could many PNE fans, tell you that playing Johnson more advanced would create more.
The other week (can't remember) the game we took Wright off for Wiseman at half time as wing backs weren't creating anything. Yesterday we started with wing backs and were creating nothing..... a good manager would 1) know what does and doesn't work and 2) learn from his mistakes.....!!
I've had one poster tell me we play for a 0-0 to half time, I have other posters not even notice we actually switched to 4 at the back and now your telling me SG is a tactical messiah as he was able to switch formations to combat Scunthorpes formation.
We are the home team, we are one of (if not the best) teams in the league and we should look to kill the game off by half time. Teams will come to Deepdale and the majority of the time be happy with a point. If we can be up by half time then they have to come and attack us to equalise therefore we can hit them on the break or continue to attack.
By picking a line up which is consistently showing to be failing at home we risk only having half a game to break a team out who will be more confident they have got through 45 mins unscathed.
