I see the games on TV, from that his delivery of the ball into the box is exceptional - never quite so clear in the flesh - the curl he puts on the ball, both in the air and ground passes, is amazing. Also, he delivers from a distance not just the byeline.

Best is a great prospect, no doubt about that but I'm not sure what his best position is - not as a LCB to my mind.
His delivery is exceptional for his age - reminds me slightly of another teenager we had briefly some years ago. He didn't have that much more to his game - he wasn't rapid, wasn't a great tackler, but he didn't have a bad career!

Totally. As I've said, he's an Alexander - Arnold clone in the way he looks for a positive long ball, how he strikes the ball. He'll be worth millions soon.
 
Just been looking through plastics squad...shocked Szmodics is already 28 so this is probably as high as he plays. Given he's their best attacker they wouldn't be making a huge amount on him if that was a plan when he signed.

Gallagher is also still there so assume he's injured. He's also 28.

I can see them having another financial crisis in a few years given the players they own in attacking areas are coming up to 30 so not much resale value there.

Moran looked decent in the number 10 position but he'll just go back to Brighton end of the season and get a chance there.

err ... Best didn't play in any of them.

The only game Best has played in and we have conceded more than 1 goal was Coventry.

With the exception of the Coventry game we have conceded 1 or nil goals in every other (league) game this season other than the above four. Three of those four were pretty dire but absolutely nobody can put that at Best's door. Oh, and Hughes played in the West Brom debacle.

I think one needs to give one's head a little wobble.

Last night he was lucky that we didn’t concede that gift for Sigurdsson. And he should have followed Szmodics for their goal.. didn’t read that at all. Then decide to stroll back when woodman come off his line.
Against Sunderland he was on the wrong end of every one of their chances created. If he was 28 he would be slated to the ground.
Maybe he’s not a defender but seems too slow also
 
Sam my Szmodics was playing for Colchester against PNE when we lost our last game of the season. A win would have seen us promoted but we still went up through the playoffs 24 May 2015 - unforgettable!

When he is 28 he will be a lot more experienced.
Great crosser of the ball and a good prospect.
The only way he will improve the defensive aspect of his game is by playing matches.

I think he’s maturing into a decent player, i don’t think JDT knows how to use him
and they definitely carried less threat when he came off , in my opinion.

He wouldn’t necessarily get into our team week in week out but he’d certainly be an asset to us had we kept him.

He’d be one of the first names on the team sheet.

He is what i hoped Millar would be (when going forward)

Going forward i agree, but he tracks back less than Millar …

Millar isn’t great defensively, but he’s a hell of a lot better than Dolan , if he adds that to his game then he will be a top top player.

But he isn’t 28 he has only just turned 18 give him time and credit because by the time he is 28 he won’t be playing for us that’s for sure.
