Matchday Thread QPR v PNE - 20/04/24 - KO:5.15pm - Championship

Woodburn's taken a lot of stick but we did improve when he went off. We actually got on to the front foot and started causing a couple of problems, but none serious enough to produce a goal. QPR chucked a couple of defenders on late to shut up shop. It worked and we were done.

Correction required Sid, QPR scored and we were done.

Hey Son, PNE v QPR highlights are on the telly

Missed the second half today as the missus and I had a prior engagement. That was a very wise decision. I just watched the second half recording: soul destroying. We are one of the most awful clubs to watch; why are we always on telly?
We have a clown for a manager, an administration that shows no interest in furthering the interests of the club as a whole and this produces a sense of total apathy. We will not gain another point this season and I cannot really be arsed one way or another. It is unreal to feel this way after that start to the season. But there it is. Lowe out, Ridsdale out, everybody out.

Think the turn out on season tickets is going to be poor next season if lowe is still about
Yep, going to be a difficult decision for a lot, most will say they aren't but then will.
My heart will say renew, its for the Club not the Manager or the charlatan Chairman (he who couldn't even be named that for 10 years) -
but my head will say don't be so fukin stupid, what a waste of monies, buying 2 Season Tickets with the costs of travelling down!
Not sure which will win just now!!

Was in the same situation last season. Myself and the old man were not going to renew…I was on hols when they released season tickets and he took the ‘executive decision’ to renew for us and my kids (had to pay him like!!)

Last couple of home games we’ve told the gang around us that we’re done. Spent years sat next to Bernard Jones (an absolute gent). But it’s now a proper chore, the old man travels an hour south, me an hour north …traffic, no beer, shit football. That’s not entertainment.

Riddler, Lowe off you pop. Craig get a grip.
PNE gone not forgotten.

Promotion guaranteed next season 😂

First 7 games: 19 points (Automatic promotion form).

Next 19 games: 16 points (Relegation form).

Then 12 games: 24 points (automatic or definite play off form).

This last 6 games: 4 points (Relegation form) - and possibly no more points in the last 2 matches.

Those two positive spells were totally dependent upon an unsustainably high conversion of chances rate.

A very big summer ahead for the club. Do the owners and PR realise this?

It's almost comical how streaky that is. Big summer ahead indeed. Can start by getting rid of the manager.

I agree…… the season is fizzling out and no-one cares.

We are a nothing club, with no aspiration to do better.

Another poor end to a season that at times promised to be a good one
Just so inconsistent. At times we've been good to watch and the players look Championship quality but other times we've been just awful.
All in all when the season ends, the table will show we've been bang average again.
Next season will be the same as it's been since our return to the Championship and I'm not sure a change in manager would make any difference.
Until the investment required is made then we will continue to tread water, backed enough to ensure we survive but no more.

Groundhog day.
we cant invest more due to FFP rules, maybe a couple of cheap players of free's
- we need a manager than get the players we have working as a team and bringing out the best in them. Lowe isnt the one. Our players are capable they just need direction.

Someone with a bit of diplomacy
As I (and others) keep saying, the potential managers are out there. McKenna, Edwards, Mousinho, Skubala were all appointed without a huge amount of fanfare and were hardly top of many wanted lists before their appointment. Obviously they wouldn’t come here now but the next versions of them are waiting.

It just needs a little forethought, a decent recruitment process and planning to find them.

Never mind!

If the position became available any decent prospective manager would insist that Peter Ridsdale and his team move from Euxton back to Deepdale….so they are obviously getting no further in the process.

It's a tough decision. I'll probably get one (after 50 years, I can't break the habit) as long as the cost is the same or very little more. At least with an ST I don't feel terribly robbed if I miss a game or two (which always happens because of holidays etc) and the cost of attending without an ST is way too high. Plus, the guaranteed seat around around people you've come to know and the risk of getting next to an idiot if you're buying random tickets. Just hope there is some clever and proper investment this time round.

Out all day yesterday and knew nothing other than the very predictable score

Just noticed Woodburn started 😂

And just the standard paltry 2 shots on target

I know we usually tail off at this point of the season but the performances the last month have been truly shocking

Haven’t changed my mind once all season and don’t think I ever will LOWE OUT RIDSDALE OUT

I will be getting a season ticket purely for the social pre match side of things

The football this season for the most part has been absolutely dire and all the stats back that up

Quite a few won’t renew if there’s an expected rise in cost next season to watch that shite

As has been stated many times before, we can invest more. There are ways the owners can get around FFP, they simply choose not to as they don't want to.
