Matchday Thread QPR v PNE - 20/04/24 - KO:5.15pm - Championship
I was at least pleased to see Ryan Lowe admitted we couldn’t keep hold of the ball….but this is not helped by his tactics which clearly stipulate a lot of long balls
First full season I have not attended a single game, it’s all so stale just I’ve just found other things to do.

So you know that for a fact? Like Leicester , Forest, Everton and Man City didn't?As has been stated many times before, we can invest more. There are ways the owners can get around FFP, they simply choose not to as they don't want to.

Or have they seen the light and think why should we chuck our money away on a lost cause. Would you trust Lowe & Co to spend your millions wisely? Me neither.

Genuine question. It's great that you know this and anyone who understands the FFP rules deserves a round of applause! Ridsdale had gone on record to say that PNE were on the cusp of breaching the rules - maybe you might explain to us - as simply as possible for idiots like me! - what the rules are and how you'd propose to get round them?Yes I do. And no, not like them.
Another really poor performance from PNE now 3 consecutive losses with no goals. This should be an opportunity to create and try to entertain . “I said to my team before that today I wanted only positive things, even if they make mistakes. Play freely”..not Ryan Lowe unfortunately but the Cardiff manager(Erol Bulut) who also have nothing to play for -but maybe a lesson to learn for PNE 🤔.I’d rather PNE lose 4-2 and create/entertain than lose like they did against QPR and Southampton -no point in just containing keeping a score down in PNEs circumstances🤔-can’t understand Lowe’s thinking!
I was out yesterday afternoon so though I did keep upto date with the text commentary didn't either attend or watch the broadcast nor have I or will I watch any highlights. So I don't need to try to forget this since I have nothing to remember in the first place. I will watch the broadcast of the next match since I live in hope that we may see the season out with some sort of flourish. But it is obvious that major changes in personnel are needed - whether that includes the management is a matter for CH and PR.
And starting with Mads. It is no coincidence that Mads and Miller both struggle when the other isn’t playing as teams just double up on them knowing take them out of the game and we won’t create anything. If yesterday taught us anything,it’s that Browne and Millar must be re signed. They were a cut above all our other players.
One simple way is for one of the Hemmings companies to sponsor the training kits, back of shirts or shirts. Sponsor the training ground is another oneSo you know that for a fact? Like Leicester , Forest, Everton and Man City didn't?
At 3 -0 down Lowe would have been structuring us not to concede more.
And probably failingAt 3 -0 down Lowe would have been structuring us not to concede more.
Lowe would’ve won that second half too albeit without the goals. At 3 -0 down Lowe would have been structuring us not to concede more.

Come on, Muzza, tell us how to beat FFP....Yes I do. And no, not like them.
1. Invest in our academy and actually make it capable of producing talent we can actually sell for a profit. Best thing about this is that it doesn't affect FFP just requires investment from the family.Come on, Muzza, tell us how to beat FFP....
2. Produce our own talent to sell or continue tapping in to lesser ploughed fields to try and unearth players that we can "pay low sell high" on. Players like mads, riis.
3. this one cannot be stressed enough. STOP LETTING PLAYERS WALK OUT FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. We keep getting told that we need to be self sufficient Nest way to do this is player sales. How many players have we sold recently? All of our players either walk for free or more frequent we pay them off as they are so bad no fecker wants them.
4. Linked to 3. Stop giving out cushy extensions to failed pet projects. Actually start giving up on failed projects rather than triggering appearance related extensions (woodburn) or ridiculous contract extensions for players who just don't deserve it (harrop and sorry to say ched this last year). Football is a ruthless cutthroat business we should not become a charity case for every footballer with a sob story or because he's a "nice guy"
5. Start making use of deepdale. Work on the infrastructure so deepdale can actually be used for other things despite football every other Saturday. Sell the use of the great rooms as often as you can. Sponsor the great rooms if needed. Coin is coin.
6. Sponsor the shite out of everything. If we have a spare bit of deepdale get it sponsored. Naming rights? Sell em. We will all call it deepdale anyways so what's the difference?
Is it guaranteed to work? Nope. However i struggle to see how much worse it could be to try.
Hugill and Robinson were the last players we got a decent transfer fee for and that’s a while ago now.1. Our owners are sat in their IOM tax haven looking at Luton in the Premiership, Coventry in a FA Cup semi final and Ipswich in an automatic promotion slot.1. And they (and some fans on here) are supposedly sat thinking "yeah, we are making real progress at North End. We are a well run club".
Yet we've not had a top six finish at championship level since 2008/09. The Hemmings took control in 2010/11. This is no coincidence - it's just indicative of the ambition of this hierarchy.
After downgrading our academy a decade ago it has produced largely nothing, while other clubs are making multi millions.
Blackburn: Adam Wharton (£18m), Birmingham: Jude Bellingham (£30m), Bristol City: Alex Scott (£25m), Hull City: Lewis-Potter (£16m), Norwich: Jamal Lewis (15m) to name a few.
While other teams are investing in new training grounds and new staff, we sit insisting what we have is good enough. No need for changes. Even building a £1.5m dome is beyond us, cos we'd rather bareface lie and say it'll cost £5m+.
All whilst "dodgy" owners like Vincent Tan at "not well run" Cardiff have invested millions in a new academy site just a year ago.
In Coventry's recent accounts it stated it was the "club’s intentions to reach the EFL play-offs at least three times in the next five years and ultimately to re-join the Premier League".
What do north end fans get?
Progress is finishing 11th, rather than 12th.
Progress is an anti-football brand that staves off short term relegation fears, rather than developing an actual club footballing philosophy designed for a successful, sustainable future.
Progress is keeping everyone in their roles from chairman to manager to coaching staff to players for as long as physically possible, for fear of any outsiders coming in with greater ambition & ideas of being something more than what we are right now.
Progress is a self induced coma where the club happily lie prone dreaming of success, but can't (or in our case... won't) actually move a muscle to make anything good happen.
