Matchday Thread PNE v Leicester City - 29/04/24 - KO:8PM - Championship

I thought Leicester had pulled a Riddler special and securitised their future TV/Parachute money with an Aussie Bank about 4 years ago. They'd need their parachute to keep up the loan payments I'd expect

Leicester have never received a penny of any parachute payments. Why would we have ?

Missed the game last night. Mrs Toni recorded it for me and I've just watched it back. Divorce proceedings could follow in all likelihood.

We were absolutely abysmal. The scoreline could have been far worse: McAteer missed a couple of chances for a start. Effectively another game of attack v defence and with our defence that can only end in one way. No positives at all from another end of season debacle. With absolutely nothing to lose, we invariably offer nothing. Sick of it really.

Because all relegated premiership clubs get parachuite payments, why wouldnt Leicester have received any?
And this is where a lot of people don't know the rules and keep making incorrect calls on parachute payments.

You don't get them if you go back up the same season you come down.

As such LCFC have never received a parachute payment.

They come in for a 2nd season in the Championship.

As your attorney, I would strongly advise against this course of action. Rather, sue the arse off Ryan Lowe for impersonating a knowledgeable football manager - you can't possibly lose.
True Sid. I would never be able to prove that Mrs Toni knowingly recorded the game with malice a forethought. Apparently she switched off after 10 minutes last night!

I would be desperate to get rid of Lowe, by legal means or otherwise.

Not true, you get around 50% of the payment in year 1, then it reduces for the 2nd and 3rd season, if a club gets promoted within that time frame, then the remaining parachute payment is split between the other champ[ionship clubs, so Leicester, as with Leeds and Southampton, will have recieved a hefty sum this season

A fall into the second tier means City will also receive parachute payments to help them cope with the significant drop in revenue that comes with being outside of the Premier League. Those parachute payments last for three years, unless promotion is achieved, and reduce each year.

The first year’s parachute payment is expected to total between £40 and £45m, with that cash spread throughout the upcoming campaign.

Read it again

£111M was the money we received for partaking in the 22/23 Premiership season.

Promotion was achieved.

No parachute payments.

I think youre misunderstanding it, it lasts for 3 years, but if oyu get promoted after 1 year, you only recieve 1 year of payment then they stop, so oyu dont continue to recieve those payments in year 2 and 3, this line confirms you recieved £40 to £45 million this year

Read this article ... it's a three year plan which runs from years 2 to 4 after relegation

Sunderland, Boro, Cardiff, Stoke and Swansea are the real cash cows

No one ever mentions Newcastle and Villa benefitting from this do they?

Notice also that Norwich had their 3rd year payment cancelled in 2018/19 as they went back up

First year ... starting the year after relegation

My oh my!!!!!
It never ceases to amaze me, the level of dross and shite that some people are prepared to accept and also defend!!!!!!!
Lowe is bloody clueless and Ridsfail brings to football
The manager is absolutely at fault for last night.
But let’s not beat around the bush. Our next manager needs to be strict with these contract extensions and needs to get rid of the majority of this squad.

Keep - whiteman, woodman, riis, osmajic, Keane, potts.

The rest can go. Lindsay’s defending for the third goal is some of the most pathetic defending I’ve seen since we got relegated. I have never seen a defender defend the six yard box crouched down. It’s soemthing you see in an under 11’s match.

The fact the players gave him player of the year shows how much mediocrity is accepted here

You've obviosly not been following any championship fans for a number of years, most fans have complained about those clubs along with other clubs recieving an unfair advantage to pay their way back to the top flight. Theres been a debate for many years that the parachute payment system should be scrapped, but that would need a vote frmo premier leagiue clubs and theyre never goign to vote to potentially screw themselves over when they eventually get relegated

I was unaware of teams not getting the payment in their 1st season, the quote from your own newspaper states that you would get the money paid in the upcoming campaign, and even if they dont recieve it, its there as a safety net should they fail to go straight back up, so allows them to keep their higher paid players for at least another year

Ha... Newspaper clickbait !

I'd never paid any attention to parachutes till this season TBH... Never been involved with them tbh. Last time LCFC got relegated was 2003/4 so they were never a thing.

Now they're in it's tricky as to what to do with them.

Can understand the frustrations from other clubs.

Can call LCFC all sorts of things and rightly so ... but we've never taken parachute money.

Could change in 3 seasons time of course!

I noticed Ipswich fans moaned about it a fair bit in the first part of this season ... they've kind of gone quiet on that front now!!!

Excellent.

My account is in the mail 😉
