Don’t think it will be an issue. Either Leeds go up and wages are out of reach or he doesn’t want to sign for us (based on recent performance like Riis).
We need o keep Mawene, get him some game time HERE. Give him an incentive to stay. We can't afford to keep driving our better youngsters away. Be brave for once and take chance. Can they do worse than the tried and tested??No to signing Greenwood - get a prem loan in who can carry the ball to compete with and compliment Mads, and re-direct the budget towards wing backs.
Keep Mawene, find him a decent loan, and see where we're at in 18 months with him.
🤞 🙏I'm not so sure. Not convinced that Hecky actually rates him now he's had time to assess the squad he's inherited.
Been impressed how ruthless he's been over Okkels, tried to be with Whatmough and his own choice of Bowler, so maybe times are a-changing...?
There's definitely a player in there. Good goal contribution from him this year. His most prolific season thus far.
Seems out of sorts recently.
At the money being talked about, we should probably be all over it.
Still quite young, with hopefully best years ahead.
Absolutely nothing like them two. But I know people love talking in extremes. Can’t agree.
Just another Harrop/Woodburn type midfielder with nothing to offer….
He offers more on the ball than Woodburn, and offers more off the ball than Harrop. So he's definitely not an exact copy. He’s got a bit of attacking capability but can’t mark a player, just ends up giving fouls away, and not a good reader of the game, which is why Leeds don’t want him, Sunderland and Boro didn’t work, and why we’ve got him.
Has the odd quality dead ball strike, but that seems to have deserted him.
I think he’s an exact copy of the 2 players mentioned previously.
I see nothing in him unfortunately.
Funnily enough I’ve been thinking for a while he reminds me of a mix between Harrop and Woodburn. Harrop wasn’t short of technical ability but showed nothing out of possession (still remember that Wycombe game where we had 3 midfielders against their 2 and they still managed to run the game). Woodburn had undeniable workrate but not abilityHe offers more on the ball than Woodburn, and offers more off the ball than Harrop. So he's definitely not an exact copy.
It's possible to not rate him without thinking he's the same as those two players. Because he's not a L2 player.
Also "just ends up giving fouls away" but is one of the better players in his position in the league for tackles won, and also wins fouls too.

Does offer something different in possession compared to Harrop, as more of a runner and ball carrier than Harrop, who tried rely on technical ability only.Funnily enough I’ve been thinking for a while he reminds me of a mix between Harrop and Woodburn. I would take a risk on him for that price but not on £30,000 per week. We know he can play because he was good for us prior to Christmas. How many have we had on loan that were rubbish for us but ended up playing in the top leagues. I think Greenwood would improve and even if not good enough for us I don’t think we would lose out on him, maybe get even more.
Where the hell did that figure come from?
He reportedly gets a wage increase if Leeds get promoted.
He'll be on pretty decent dough from when he played in the PL too. He played 18 times in 22/23 for Leeds.
FWIW, our team against Rovers in that game was:
Rudd, Clarke, Davies, Bauer, Rafferty, Pearson, Gallagher, Barky, Harrop, Browne, Maguire.
Sinclair, Potts, Fisher on the bench and we had DJ out injured. Should have done far more with that squad than we did.
This accurate take is not going to please the Alex Neil fan boys.
It won't happen though. No chance PH picks him...his only interest is the here and now, not developing a young talent who could make the club serious money in 2-3 years - he won't be here to bear the fruits. We need o keep Mawene, get him some game time HERE. Mawene's loan opportunity was a very good one for him. Unfortunately he's been bloody awful. It won't happen though. No chance PH picks him...his only interest is the here and now, not developing a young talent who could make the club serious money in 2-3 years - he won't be here to bear the fruits.
Our only way of bringing through youth is to find good, effective loans, and let them develop over a few years. We did it with Davies but not with Earl and Best...thrown straight in, out of their depth, it knocked them back and now they need to re-build their careers in lower league.
We are awful at sourcing loans for our young players...it's almost as if we have a data analyst as a loan and pathways manager...
