David's Final Fundraiser: The Walk of Slightly Increasing Shame ✨‍♀️
More here - The Fundraiser
Right then, folks — brace yourselves.

I'm raising money for a brilliant local Essex-based Domestic Abuse Charity - Changing Pathways, and to do it, I’ll be strutting (read: regretting) my way from Stargate to Gynn Square in Blackpool — that’s 4 full miles of flashing lights, funny looks, and fierce wind. But this isn’t just any walk...

Oh no.

This is happening the day after I get married. You read that right — while most newlyweds are off to somewhere warm and romantic, I’ll be recovering from saying “I do” by saying “Oh no, what have I done?” on the streets of Blackpool. And it gets worse... or better, depending on your sense of humour.

A GoFundMe page will be live soon (Around May or June), and here’s where YOU come in. The more you donate, the more ridiculous I look and embarrassed my dignity gets. It’s a win-win for some and well yeah I hit the big amount, win for Charity and me.

Let me break it down for you:

Tier 1 – Under £500

“That’s not so bad…”

I walk the lights in a t-shirt and shorts. In late October. In Blackpool. Where the wind cuts through your soul and the seagulls judge you. I’ll basically be dressed for a summer BBQ in a place that’s halfway to Narnia.

Tier 2 – £500 to £1000

“Ah, now we’re getting somewhere…”

I upgrade the look to a dress with Lights (This is based on donations and whether I can still look my in-laws in the eye after this and they consider me a son in-law).

At £750, I'll add socks or tights — because nothing says commitment like frozen dodgy kneecaps wrapped in nylon.

Tier 3 – Over £1000

“We’re entering drag race territory now…”

Full makeup, lovingly (and terrifyingly) applied by my partner, who is way too excited about this. (the laughs she has when telling people, I am worried)

She’s also mentioned nails, lashes, and “just a bit of contouring” — which sounds like code for “I’m turning you into a Real domestic Housewife, with a future booking on the Jeremy Kyle show.”

£1250? Boom — PIGTAILS. Because they won't make my look silly in a Dress on Blackpool sea Front in the height of light season, will they?.

£1500? Say hello to high heels. Pray for my ankles, my arms, neck and the ground I will probably getting cosy with. I'll be staggering around like a man that drowned his sorrows after his football team just lost in the FA Cup Quarter Finals in the 90th+15 Minutes when the Referee gave only 7 minutes in the Pub all evening. I'll be like Big Bad Admin Ian, coming out the Pub just before it's his round.
Bonus Round – No coat. No mercy.

Whatever the weather — wind, rain, snow, Sand Storm or them great big, butch seagull attacks (they eat fish and Chips for Breakfast up North ya know) — I will NOT wear a coat. Why? Because dignity was left behind around £750 or at home before coming up with this idea. So what's a bit of wind up OOOh! Suit you sir.

Mystery Twist – £1750

Someone has promised to donate an item to “complete the outfit.” I don’t know what it is. I’m scared. We all should be.

THE FINAL LEVEL – £2000+

“Abandon all pride, ye who enter here.”

If we hit £2K or more, I won’t just walk the lights.

No no no.

I will put on the ENTIRE outfit in Essex, then make the full public transport pilgrimage to Blackpool. That means:

The bus
The train
The London Underground
Another train to Preston
A transfer at Preston
A final train to Blackpool North
And then a walk to the hotel (kindly Donated)
IN FULL OUTFIT. With makeup. With pigtails. In heels. On a Wednesday morning, probably, surrounded by commuters questioning life after seeing me, dragging my dignity in a suitcase and my sole questioning what is going on.

Oh — and I’m also booked in for dinner with the lads that afternoon. Somewhere public in the North West of England. Because of course I am, (Someone get me my Agent, who would do a thing like this to me).

All for an amazing cause. This will be my last big fundraiser due to health reasons, so I want to go out with a bang. Or at least a twisted ankle and smeared lipstick.

Let’s make this MASSIVE.

Support survivors. Raise awareness. Have a laugh at my expense.
And yes — no matter what, I’ll be ending the night at Funny Girls. Because where else would I belong by that point? (note Funny Girls is not a sponsor or Promoter of this Event, but have given permission to use their Venue)

You decide how ridiculous I look based on how much you donate. Let’s make history. Let’s make me absolutely fabulous darlings. Or you could save my life from the growls of pain I suspect come with heels.

Note - I will have a few Carers and stewards with me, medically trained should I have health issues and to support me (more like laugh at me) at all times.

As a timely reminder that life is never simple for me, Gofundme have sent a wrecking ball straight into the heart of my event, Having promised they would sort everything out and asked me to keep my fund raiser with them as well as using Justgiving. Today they did the worst possible.

Having reached £290 with them, So

Firstly I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused

Having worked hard on my final Charity The Fundraiser Walk of Slightly Increasing Shame- Domestic Abuse Awareness for Changing Pathways event using Gofundme, today they informed me that they can't process payments to the Charity and there for closing my Gofundme and refunding payments. So all who donated on there will be receiving a full refund back to your original Payment Methods. Again I am very sorry, The Charity is on Gofundme, but there is a paypal issue. They also had an issue with my personal donation Guarantee of me refunding if I didn't do the event. I mean come on, I was making sure funds to the charity and sure people where covered in all events.

However all is not lost, Working with Justgiving, I have checked that donations can be made to the charity by card and Paypal, they have Reverified all is legit, happy with my personal refund policy and its all good to go. So whilst this set back has cost us £290 in donations to the cause, means I may not have to wear that dress 😱 which I know some were determined me to punish me with.

So if anyone would like to re-donate via Justgiving or donate. It's up and running. When donating on Justgiving, look under the Donations box, there next to or just under the Charity name, is a purple box with a Tick and Verified by Justgiving. That confirms they have checked the charity and its legit and payments are fine.

The gofundme refunds will take as long as your bank takes to refund, I think they said 5-7 days. Again very sorry.

Im now going to destress in the PNE section of this forum, Owait.

I am aware someone on here donated via Justgiving already, That donation is secure and not affected by this issue , this is just a Gofundme or I now call Go-Get-Fucked-me. The efforts gone in to doing this have been crazy, I was expecting a simple Create donation page, do the event. Having to work with Hotels, Train Companies, getting Marshalls and donation pages and websites and I am lost. but I am determined more than ever to do this, my last ever event.

If you don't wear the dress I want a fucking refund 😂😂
🤣 🤣 I told you no personal shows. I hope I get there and that promise is there, If I was that level I will do it. Also the dress is ordered. Because If I don't £500 They got me a Orange Shirt. You help avoiding this embarrassment is appreciated

Great news - NO Orange top. Great News for Charity - Go fund me have issued a massive apology and the page is back live minus the donations.
Bad news for me, Go Fundme are going to replace the Donations out their own pocket and that will when done, will put me in the Dress bracket.

Had a falling our with SEPT (Mental Health) absolute bellends, sent a Letter to my GP saying I am not considered well and to come off all Medication. GP obviously starts to follow their advice. Much to my surprise. So I contact SEPT. We never sent no letter, so GP gave me a copy. It was meant for another Patient who was on a 6 month course. So not for me. They don't understand why I am upset, as I spotted it before I was removed off the meds. Silly fuckers (no apology for the swear word)

In Other News.
Hit £382 +£100 Direct Donation to the charity.
Hotel is Booked, Tickets for the end event sorted and I am doing the walk of Faith in the Tower. I hate Heights, but Even if I don't get the rest for the event, Its something I have done.

I'm back via unpopular demand. what Summer. So after the heat, losing one of my Birds and a Kitchen Fire, I was given an option to voluntary have a holiday in the local Hospital for the mentally unwell and have limited internet access or be detained, all because I lost it with a council worker who tried to convince me the Fire was because I plug the washing machine wrong. I had enough shite going on to deal with that crap. Anyway after short stay, the fire report came back last week and it was faulty electrics by the council as was only a matter of time and luckily I was in at the time. Leaving was a little harder than I expected, I should of been out last week. But fully released today. They done a good job on the Kitchen. Started some new therapy treatment to deal with past issues. This will continue, but I am happy to be back home with my partner and Birds full time. I am ready for the new season. I don't know how matchday threads went, but if people want me to start up again I will, its something to do.

Charity is at £1125, so that 100% happening.

Have a great evening I am going to get some 3d Printing done and relax for a few days.

PS do we have a game at the weekend as nothing is listed?

Welcome back Crazy. Hope you’re getting yourself back to normal now.
No scheduled game for us this weekend coming. Next scheduled game is QPR away, though there might be a couple of games behind closed doors, so you’d not be able to report on them.

Certainly do the MDT’s again, more so if they help you. They are always appreciated by many who don’t manage to get on the game, home or away. 👍

So the other day I had to go to the Doctors for a Peronal Issue, which the GP said was a Bad Kidney Infection, He started me on the Anti-Biotics and sent off a Urine Sample. The result came back all clear no further Action. So I called and asked if its not a Kidney infection what else can it be? They said it was a Kidney infection but the Anti-biotics are working. I pointed out the Urine Sample was before the Anti-biotics and said yes they clearly worked. This is the level of GP's we dealing with. I told them I have had enough of their Bullshit and the have removed me from their List. So no GP and no Meds. They even put because I didn't believe the Anti-biotics had cured the issue with the urine sample. They going to look like right planks when the have to nadmit the sample was taken before the Medication was even issued.

They also put I had no serious medical conditions, just pick up a lot of infections, causing my high blood pressure. Not sure how this is going to play out but I am looking forward to having my say, with Pals.

Little Update. I finally left the OLD GP Surgery.
Today I got the Birthday Present I wanted and didn't want.
So got to have tests for the Big C, but atm they just because of small signs in past blood test results that may have been missed. So nothing to worry to much.

And Losing the feeling in my Left arm has been increasing, hence why I moved GP's and got a second opinion. I was expecting to be sent back for the treatment of nerve conduction test, sending Electric shocks in the arm. As the OLD GP said the results where lost. Well the New GP said, they there on my File as Read, no further action. Well that was badly wrong because I have 2 Trapped Nerves in my Arm. 1 of them is in the joint, so everytime I bend my arm it gets crushed and more and more damaged. And the Second is minor, nearer the hand. The issue is the Crushed one should of been operated on urgently as it affects the hand and Shoulder and ignoring it can cause long term damage. He said he's booking me in for urgent assessment and hope that with quick action they can prevent further damage but was honest and said that the Damage is done, what I feel now is for life.

Present Wanted - A GP that Listens and takes time to read results.
Didn't want - Results and more tests.

For once I left a GP Appointment feeling that just maybe I can get treatment and move forward instead of being held back by bullshit and messing about. Also said he would back me against the OLD Doctors if things have gone to far because they said the results where lost and yet read them and filed under no further action.

Happy birthday. Half the battle is won when you get a decent GP because sadly they are becoming fewer and further between.
