Matchday Thread Bolton Wanderers v PNE | 15.08.26 | KO:12:30pm | Championship

Away in Holland working this weekend and was gutted not to be able to go to the game. Having watched the highlights i’m glad I didn’t miss much. Bolton looked bang average but had a field day playing in behind our Tortoises in defence. Seriously painful to watch our backline in and out of possession.

We played 442 all game mate. Burgzorg on the left with Devine on the right, Lang and Osmajic up top.
We played 433 until Erabi came on. Devine was playing quite wide but not out and out on the right. Thompson was playing quite wide on the left of McCann. Lang was on the right. I disagree with your opinion, so soon I'm going to become unbearably defensive and start throwing personal insults.

We absolutely did. Lang was partnering Osmajic
Perhaps the manager should have told the players because they looked clueless in first half 😳

As a side note I watched the plastics game last night and was surprised how decent they looked. Watching Lincoln now and they are no pushovers either. Hope our new team gels pretty sharpish because it won’t easy this season.

leroy looked superb, looking forward to seeing more of him.

and erabi took his goal well.

rest isnt worth commenting on, we are still a month away from being ready really, its gonna get worse yet before it gets better.

Should he have defended then? Because he was dreadful at that, too.
Yep, he was dreadful at defending too, but that wasn’t my point!

BTW - Iversen was also pretty crap at goalkeeping, but he’ll sidestep any criticism because most fans think he’s some kind of demi-god. I know he’ll probably win us more points than he loses us this season, but that doesn’t alter the fact that he definitely has a mistake or two in him.

It took Moyes’ boys five games to get their first win after losing the PO match against Gillingham the following season.

If Hecky can’t get a team of his own players firing and is capable of going on 17 game winless runs, how many games are we realistically going to have to wait for this team to gel under his leadership?

For me, this season already feels like a write off. Even if you give Hecky the new players he wants, what’s to say he won’t just revert to his favourite shit show of Hughes, Lindsay, Storey, Potts and Thompson until we’re losing and he’s finally forced into making changes?

I really don’t want to sit through another season of it.

There's been plenty of deserved criticism of Iversen today. He does at least have credit in the bank, though.

Lindsay is drowning in debt by comparison.

So you think Harland misses that chance 50% of the time? No point in further discussion.

There or thereabouts, yes. Honestly, it's because he scores maybe half of such chances that makes him a great striker. And why a championship defender isn't a premier league striker.

A quick Google finds this coĺection of misses, all from a single season. People, rightly, remember him for his goals rather than his misses.

I’ve already posted my thoughts on Dan

Think we need an upgrade tbf

Have little confidence in him atm

He will be under a lot more pressure now.
No longer in the comfort zone and nor should he be with the backing he has now started to receive.
