Not just money. Going from the Europa League to PNE is a step down whichever way you look at it. He'd be able to get a decent job on the continent.I think he probably viewed it as a big risk given our position rather than it being about money. If he came here, a very difficult job and failed. He'd struggle to get another job at this level.
Confirmed Graham Alexander New Manager, Chris Lucketti as Assistant
One of Alexander's biggest coaching priorities is exactly what PNE needs
PNE have struggled to last a full 90 minutes this season.
It sounds like an away friendly in Austria then next July…![]()

Couldn’t we have arranged an actual game like most other clubs in this division have?Yes, Squad split in two and played each other.

Perhaps the new gaffer preferred using the time to asses and work on the fitness of players?Couldn’t we have arranged an actual game like most other clubs in this division have?

One to be remembered for the future!!!
This was his big chance - and he blew it!!! 😂
Yep, this is a total non entity of a story by Nixon.
Alan has been doing Keane's agent a favour for the last month and the timing of this "exclusive" goes to prove that.
Grezza is our manager now, not everyone is happy with that but pretty much everyone is backing Graham to succeed.
It didn’t take a genius to realise something had happened. Keane was number 1 pretty much from the off. North end deviated to GA after it was clear we weren’t getting Keane.
Sedge clearly had the inner track on the lane swap to GA as all i was told up until Sedge broke the GA news on here was that Keane was number 1 target throughout.
It fell through, like him we moved on and have now made an appointment. Why Nixon wants and feels the need to highlight we were rejected is anyones guess.
GA wasn’t and isn’t my ideal manager however gets full support as Hecky and Lowe beforehand. This is however, a huge step up for Graham and lets hope he takes to it as we all want!
Unlike Nixon, we move forwards

(a) nobody gives a shit whether you support the appointment or not;
(b) loads of you covering your arses for if it doesn't work out, pathetic really;
(c) even more guesswork and lies presented as the truth;
(d) i don't need a (d), because (a), (b) and (c) are so fucking on point
Graham's been treated quite shabbily by PNE once before, and some of the comments on here over the past week have been embarrassing.
Plus, Bradford to Preston really isn't a "huge step up"! 🙄

He did, I did post at the time ‘we have our man’ that it was his (but he didn’t want it).Nixon is a nob head, but it's very, very likely Robbie Keane just did turn us down, waiting for a more attractive, bigger money job.
Him going to Burnley wouldn't be a surprise, but I suspect he'll fancy another European job.
Nixon is correct on this one, FWIW.

You’re right, some comments have been hasty and poorly thought out, which is unjustified.I love the way so many are desperate to state "GA wasn't my first choice but I'll back him"

I expect GA will do a steady job this season and guide us to our usual section of the table come May. In the meantime he will assess his squad’s capabilities and make some tactical purchases between the next two windows.
More patience required by the faithful for another 12 months I feel. No more than he deserves and some, to my mind.
Ultimately he will succeed here, given support by AZ and Co and that is were the next 2 windows will shine a light on our collective future.

I have a feeling he could be the next David Moyes. He’s worked all his management career for this job. He’ll put in the effort to make it work. Hopefully he’ll get the players fitter and get the best out of them. I think he knows how big a job it is. He’s gained plenty of experience and the time is now right for his dream job. I’ll give him and his staff my full backing.

Nothing wrong with being underwhelmed with GA's appointment, going a league down and hoping for the best is a path well trodden with a zero success rate as yet. At the same time there's never been an appointment with a mutual love of the club shared with the fanbase like GA has, it's a fairly unique situation.
I've never wanted a manager to be successful so much in my 53 years on this planet.

I 'think' i like this although a tad hard to follow 😀.I love the way so many are desperate to state "GA wasn't my first choice but I'll back him"

On the original multi vote options (which should never have been more than 3 IMO) i voted for an 'in an ideal world' wish list of 3 totally unrealistic options, amusing that some actually thought they where viable BTW.
Since then i have been totally behind GA & CL as being the best of the realistic viable options.
It may never be possible to quantify it but i don't think they will do any worse than Robbie Keane would.
My personal opinion is that they will. Some are not sold on them - i was never sold on RK either - but would have given to the end of the Season if he was appointed to make a properly informed decision.
Which i hope fans will do to Alexander and Lucketti.
