I doubt the IOM care what the agreed fee is, they don’t get involved in day to day running or decisions. They give Peter his budget and he can do whatever what he likes with it. Whether that is buying Devine, other players, new contracts, new pitch or maintenanceSod the budget. I o m will have known for 12 months what they have to pay for Alfie. If he is a good player and future asset, it should already have been funded. If they never intended to buy him then we ve had months of misinformation and bulls*it from PR.
Confirmed Alfie Devine joins on a Season Long Loan (Option to Buy included).

Don't see the point in a loan saying a deal has been agreed unless that deal is set in stone should the buying club agree at the end of the loan.
Yeah, they've known for months what they WON'T be paying out for him. I guess if we had new owners in time, it looks a worthwhile option to have put in, but there's no chance this lot are activating that option.Sod the budget. That has been our issue for years, we don’t sign a quality player so we can sign 2 or 3 poor ones instead to make up the numbers. If we signed divine then for how many seasons could we not afford to buy anyone else
For me we have to sign him, a great player who will only get better with age. Saw glimpses of what Devine-Moran-Whiteman could deliver for years to come on Fri night (albeit against a poor Stoke team).
I’d rather we built slowly with quality and managed the other dross we have out over a longer period than keep the merry-go-round of “not good enough” going.

Watching Spurs collapsing against Forest. Would their relegation affect our option to buy Devine?

It's a loan with an option to buy unless Spurs inserted a clause that in the event of their relegation the option ceases.Watching Spurs collapsing against Forest. Would their relegation affect our option to buy Devine?

Yes. Because Devine doesn’t have to accept our terms and would rather play for SpursWatching Spurs collapsing against Forest. Would their relegation affect our option to buy Devine?

Which I don’t think they would have because I’m sure that prior to this season kicking-off no one associated with Spurs could have seen or imagined their current situation happeningIt's a loan with an option to buy unless Spurs inserted a clause that in the event of their relegation the option ceases.
I feel that Lindsay could really shine at Aberdeen.Aberdeen looking at Lindsay.
If we offer a deal worth £4.5 million, Spurs have to accept it. However, if another club offer any fee, Spurs can also accept it. And Devine can sign for whichever club he wants.Watching Spurs collapsing against Forest. Would their relegation affect our option to buy Devine?
Devine might be happy with the deal we can offer, but he can still choose to sign for someone else instead if he wants.

So the agreement the club's put in place when they agree a loan and are written up by lawyers aren't worth the paper they are written on.
I presume that if a player is shit or gets injured you can just rip it up, send him back, and tell them we ain't paying for this player.
I don't understand how people know what is written in any players contract.
Seems to me that the only way the deal doesn't go through is if PNE back out of it.
There could be all sorts of blame passed about but a contract is a contract.
I would presume that the contract is with PNEFC and if the club was sold before it runs out it would go to the new owners and that would be our best chance of signing him.

All it is, in real terms, is an agreed fee that we can choose to activate.
We don't get exclusivity, and the player still gets to say yes or no, as normal.
Devine can obviously turn around and say I'm not signing. We might have agreed terms, but nothing is signed. It's an option. So the agreement the club's put in place when they agree a loan and are written up by lawyers aren't worth the paper they are written on.

There's absolutely no way he doesn't get better offers this summer after his performances this season.

Have we still not bought him yet?
Peter is keeping it up his sleeve.
Going to use it all summer - dropping hints we're going to make it happen, only at the last minute for it to miraculously fall through and for Peter to tell us ''we tried''.
It's a PNE summer tradition these days it seems

He can drop all the hints he likes.
He can bugger off with the ‘we tried’ crap.
Nobody will believe it so he can keep his big trap shut.

How long that is, 1 Week, 2 Weeks, 3 Weeks, who knows but we do have that period for what it's worth.
Lets hope that the club have their eyes wide open for once.

No we don't. The agreement is very much written in pencil as opposed to pen. No obligation for him to sign.We do have a period of exclusivity.

What's exclusive is the pre-agreed fee. I.e., if he got 30 G/A this season, and his value was £20m, Spurs would still have to accept the supposed £4.5m. Wouldn't happen, because if AD got those numbers, he could get a much better move. But the point remains.

Ridsdale publicly in an interview back in Jan (think it was Jan) said that the fee with Spurs was agreed, the terms with Alfie were agreed and that we had a period of exclusivity which means no other teams in that time frame can deal with him.
His words.
From that, the club have really backed themselves into a very tight corner to wiggle out of.
And Doyler, don't patronise, I do know the difference between "option" which we have and "obligation" which I'd rather we had. No offence, don't take this the wrong way.
