Don’t be sitting on the fence, say what you really mean 😉 🤣Actions speak louder than words.
He can drop all the hints he likes.
He can bugger off with the ‘we tried’ crap.
Nobody will believe it so he can keep his big trap shut.
Confirmed Alfie Devine joins on a Season Long Loan (Option to Buy included).

This is the key part of all of this. There is a specific timeframe in which we are the only club that Spurs will sell Alfie to. The total cost of the transfer has been agreed, although I do think from memory that PR stated the terms (ie, a quid a week for 18 years) hadn't been finalised. During this period, my understanding is that Spurs cannot accept an offer for the player from elsewhere. Additionally, if, as PR stated, PNE and Alife have agreed 'terms', I feel this is that Alife has told them how much per week he wants. Bonuses, add ons etc may or may not be part of this. However, the really crucial part is that agreeing terms and signing on the dotted line are two different things. I can absolutely see 'negotiations' going on over time, for so long that our period of exclusivity ends and Wolves, or someone like that, step in with a larger bid, bigger salary and the lad signs for them. As a 21 year old lad, who could blame him?I know what people are going to reply with but...
Ridsdale publicly in an interview back in Jan (think it was Jan) said that the fee with Spurs was agreed, the terms with Alfie were agreed and that we had a period of exclusivity which means no other teams in that time frame can deal with him.
His words.
From that, the club have really backed themselves into a very tight corner to wiggle out of.
And Doyler, don't patronise, I do know the difference between "option" which we have and "obligation" which I'd rather we had. No offence, don't take this the wrong way.

Agreeing and Signing as you correctly point out are two different aspects.
His mum though, as I posted over the weekend, said that he loves it here and loves the fans. Just bought a new house 30 minutes away, too.
Fingers crossed.
Fingers crossed indeed…Said it better and in more detail than I did, thanks.

Not at all. Take Sam Greenwood. Both Boro and ourselves had an option where an agreed fee was there for a permanent deal if we wished. Both clubs decided not to. But also the player can decide not to sign. Especially if a better offer from elsewhere comes. So the agreement the club's put in place when they agree a loan and are written up by lawyers aren't worth the paper they are written on.
I presume that if a player is shit or gets injured you can just rip it up, send him back, and tell them we ain't paying for this player.
I don't understand how people know what is written in any players contract.
Seems to me that the only way the deal doesn't go through is if PNE back out of it.
There could be all sorts of blame passed about but a contract is a contract.
I would presume that the contract is with PNEFC and if the club was sold before it runs out it would go to the new owners and that would be our best chance of signing him.

Anybody who takes Peter Ridsdale's words as gospel need to have the word gullible written on their forehead.I know what people are going to reply with but...

I am simply posting what he said to a public audience.Anybody who takes Peter Ridsdale's words as gospel need to have the word gullible written on their forehead.
Not a private one on one audience like that bloke had last week.

Same thing though.
I think it is important to remember what he says in these missives, because we all know it is Bull. Then we can ask, why that didn't happen and then get ready for the usual word salad response.
Ridsdale out!
Ridsdale out!

Hopefully the club is sold by thenWe do have a period of exclusivity.
How long that is, 1 Week, 2 Weeks, 3 Weeks, who knows but we do have that period for what it's worth.
Lets hope that the club have their eyes wide open for once.

He’s probably saying to his mum - don’t ruin the market! But great news if this is true. He will only go from strength to strength next few yearsSaid it better and in more detail than I did, thanks.

who will buy him?I would cash in on Whiteman as he's had a decent season but turns 30 before the next one and put the proceeds towards Devine. We need to be having a younger squad if we need to compete, the signings since PH arrived have reflected this thankfully.
he's going nowhere.
I am sure Alfie Devinee’s agent will be working away to see what other deals he can get Alfie. Say if he has agreed a 4 year deal with us on £20,000 a week plus £250k signing on fee his agent if he can get a 4 year deal on £25,000 a week plus £400k signing on fee him and Alfie will hang on during the exclusivity period and not sign for us.
Of course his mum would say that to random PNE fans, but no person with a functioning brain would enjoy being at Preston in the past ten years.Said it better and in more detail than I did, thanks.

Alfie Devine: Tottenham Hotspur wish, PNE's option and summer transfer potential
The Tottenham Hotspur man is having a productive loan spell at PNE
Exactly this. I don't know why people have their knickers in a twist over it. We did it to protect against inflation should his value raise way above that during the loan. Spurs did it probably as a way of getting us to pay his wages for the year and, in case the loan wasn't as good as it has been, the fee is still reasonable for a player of his age and profile. It's so straightforward and no-one at any point has tried to confuse things. All it is, in real terms, is an agreed fee that we can choose to activate.
We don't get exclusivity, and the player still gets to say yes or no, as normal.
All of us know that, without a change in ownership, this deal won't be activated.
