Confirmed Andrew Moran signs from Brighton and Hove Albion

I always saw this signing as basically pitched to PH that you can sign Moran on final day....or no one else at all.

So squad would've been even lighter although Moran doing nothing to enhance it either currently.

Also not great with the money likely coming out of the summer budget.

Going to be lots of pressure on him and Lang to win games from August so I can see one of them being a scapegoat for the fanbase unless a decent loan comes in.

Hope he doesn’t turn out to be a Bayliss or a Harrop. I like him on paper but it’s a worry he isn’t getting more minutes if he’s been brought in to help us achieve our goals.

Manager worried about upsetting the loan players or existing midfielders maybe.

I think it's only fair to judge Moran next season when fully fit, and the likes of Dobbin and Devine have left us. Got to admit I have misgivings about the signing - the feedback from other clubs is of a lightweight number 10/wide player with technical ability but little pace or physicality. These type of players (Harrop, Woodburn, Mads) have traditionally struggled here but really hope he can buck the trend.
Must admit it's a signing that's pissed me off enormously - simply because he was not required at the time, and January should have been about recruiting to push for the rest of the season given the position we'd got ourselves in to.
Obviously this isn't the player's fault however, and hope it doesn't cloud people's judgement of him when he does get some game time.

I guess all I can offer as a bright side on that is that it allowed us to move Mads on for a larger fee than we would likely get in the summer.

For me we just don’t play a style of play to suit a small or lightweight number 10 and require them to do a lot of off the ball work that isn’t natural for them while not having the correct set up to get the best out of them with pace out wide for them to put through balls to

Feed him steak and Guinness and buy him a gym membership.

Sounds like working on his upper body strength has worked a treat for Troy.
Melle Meulensteen has 6 this season in that league from centre back tbf. I think Ben Woodburn would score a few over there.

I can see people's point on this but not getting the lack of fitness thing. You've been a prem reserve player. You should be fit but not match fit and that's good enough to play matches and gain fitness.

And he's 22, not 18. He's four years behind the development of Harrison Armstrong.

He needs to be playing or we shouldn't have fucking signed him.

Early days, but looks a right little pocket rocket. Wonder where we’d be if we’d given him minutes instead of persisting with McCann and Thompson

Quick, agile, positive, quality on the ball but worked hard off it and scrapped for everything. Can see the price being a bargain

Should've never taken this long to move Devine into the box to box role and then play Moran in Devine's role when our form and performances have been as bad as they have been.

Advocated for that when he signed. Didn't expect it to happen straight away due to his lack of playing time prior to joining, but did not think it'd take nearly six weeks for us to see it.

Some really good signs. Hopefully he, and the team can build on that.

Gave us the attacking freedom we've missed for a while. I think it also frees up Devine, less pressure on him to be sole creator in midfield. There was a nice balance in there tonight.
