Gally looked chuffed when it went in, like he’d been coaching Ben specifically freekicks.Tremendous free kick for the goal.

I genuinely can't tell if it was a good free kick or horrific goalkeeping, ngl.
Seem to recall Gally scoring a free kick from a not dissimilar position against Wigan a couple of seasons ago though Gallys might have been a slightly wider positionGally looked chuffed when it went in, like he’d been coaching Ben specifically freekicks.

One of those weird ones where the keeper doesn't fully commit to the dive because any sort of nick and it goes in, so he's caught in two minds. Proper dangerous area with the perfect trajectory.

We were directly in line with the free kick, diagonally behind the goal. The whole thing seemed to go in slow motion with the ball coming towards us, and we couldn't believe the keeper didn't get to it. But saying that, the keeper was pretty shocking, kept smashing it out of play or mis-hitting it, and nearly getting closed down playing all that fancy out-from-the-back stuff.I genuinely can't tell if it was a good free kick or horrific goalkeeping, ngl.

Good performance by the lad for the second week running.
Looks like he can pass, shoot, tackle, take a decent set piece, but the big question is can Ben Whiteman sing the blues?

I think his ability to put accurate balls into the box with both feet during open play help. However our best striker at the moment riis, isn't that good in the air.He just hasn’t done much full stop.
Like others, I do think there’s a player in there but I’m yet to see him have a strong game at this level.
You'd have a better chance of that with his brother SlimGood performance by the lad for the second week running.

Thought I’d revisit my comment above from a few months back now that Whiteman is rightfully starting to get the recognition he deserves. A good number on here have made similar comments in recent times.
I still stand by my comment about him being captain material. Keep it up lad, really enjoy watching you play!
Oh dear.I can’t see what value he adds. Gally would offer more if he came out of retirement.
I know we don’t spend a lot on players but when we do; Bayliss, Ledson, Riis, Potts and Whiteman they are normally not good enough
Ledson, Riis and Whiteman.

That aged well. Shot from the hip after three straight defeats….
Whiteman has had a hit and miss season so far but hopefully now with McCann alongside him he can push on like he did against Luton
Always been able to see that he's absolute quality but it wasn't clear early on if he'd be able to make it work in a North End shirt, much in the same way a lot of supporters saw the quality in Harrop.
Luckily BW seems to now be starting to show the consistency that we all hoped for. For all of our on and off pitch woes, we have had a class midfield for a good few seasons now and BW will hopefully be a big part of it now and for a long time to come.

I agree - still got quite a way to go for me to prove himself at this level. A consistent run alongside McCann would be beneficial I think - however with the insistence on shoe horning Browne in, our best player currently sitting on the bench, and Ledson on the scene as well, I'm not sure this will happen. That aged well. Wins the ball? Who the fuck did he ever tackle?
I respectfully disagree, without needing to resort to vulgarity. He's a top-class passer of the ball.Whiteman doesn’t look capable of imposing himself on the game at this level. He’ll probably be fine when we’re in league 1.
