Was a balls up but again, not really a wealth of options was there.

2 of Storey, Lindsay and Pol where starting regardless.

Fair enough if you were the new owners, but I’m pretty sure if they wanted him gone they wouldn’t be committing 10 million quid to new players would they. I’m not having for a minute that the Hemmings crew have spent 3x what they usually do without some form of conversation with Zedan himself.

It’s fair enough too re his ability, but he does have a championship promotion under his belt.

Have to agree to disagree, I don’t think he’s bulletproof at all, just don’t think now’s the time to pot him personally. Won’t be conducive to much.
Yep, just regarding his promotion, quite a few have one good season Phil Brown had his before joining us and I think PH will prove to be similar.
Hope I am wrong and he smashes it but I don't think he will be with us by the end of the season.

Yeah I bet the new man would be buzzing to come in and galvanise a defence with Lindsay Storey, Pol and Hughes involved. Thompson sitting in front of them. Just seems a bit mental to boot him just as soon as the squad becomes semi decent and clearly with his input in building it.

We haven’t had a style of play since we’ve had the same spine of this squad, it seems we are working on changing that. No manager is coming in and working wonders with this squad at the minute. So there would have to be an overhaul regardless, once that’s addressed for me he gets the benefit of doubt.

Differing opinions isn’t it.

None of our managers who have ever come in have had their own players, it’s never worked for us. Top tier managers don’t waltz into midtable championship sides as we’ve seen for the last 10 years.
I agree with a lot of this, but the clock is definitely ticking for him.
Barring an absolute disaster to the start of the Season then he's probably got until the end of the Year for us to start to see some real signs of overall improvement.
Whilst they have recruited fairly well they are still stuck with the same defence and unfortunately this negates a lot of the positive signings because they have to try to play a style to accommodate for the shortcomings.

Leroy looked 10 times the player Whiteman is in 20 minutes. He’ll be the answer, hopefully Liverpool lad is just as good but regardless, a McCann, Leroy, Divine three playing centrally is already better than a McCann, Whiteman, Divine trio, add the Liverpool lad and hopefully we’re flying in that department.
Why waste him sitting deep? He's more Armstrong than Whiteman, surely. We need someone disciplined and prepared to sit rather than run around chasing shadows.

Scott Parker’s free

Before anyone else wants to have a pop, who the hell do you recommend?

I believe we are now stuck with Thompson, Lindsey, Storey as does anyone really believe we will be able to sell any. The decision to extend Hughes looks daft, should have been let go.
One of them needs the be loaned out with us paying part of the wages. No club is going to buy them with the wages they are on.

Having listened to the post match interview a couple of times now, I can’t help but come to 2 possible conclusions.
1. Heckingbottom is deluded.
2. He thinks we are stupid.
There can be no other explanation. He talks about a couple of mistakes. We could have won.
Well yes, maybe some truth in that, but what about getting totally spanked for 60+minutes? And his take on the first half is really strange. We we’re getting in behind more than them, really?

Spoke to the Bolton fan at work, who said if that 3rd goal wasn't disallowed, it could have been a cricket score. No argument really. No leaders on the pitch or in the dugout, so the heads would have truly gone at 3-0.

Do you get the feeling we've been here before? Typical North End, they drain any last drop of optimism from you. Maybe this time it will be different though. We have good football people coming into the club and meanwhile the Family are doing their bit to help too (tin hat on).
Heckingbottom will know his time to sort it is short and I think he deserves a shot at it.
Let's see how it turns out. As fans we will all be behind the team. COYW's

Asking this question is good faith. Why do you think he deserves a shot at it?

I agree, but we could have won. Where's the glass half full?
It’s ok to have a glass half full. But kidding yourself that we didn’t just get battered is really a stretch. The score line flatters us, to suggest otherwise is not glass half full, it’s just a non-comprehension of what you’ve witnessed

Hi Simo, I just think that Heckingbottom has never been backed until now during his time at PNE. He has had success before as we all know. He surely has the experience to know what needs doing and how best to go about it.
I do agree with many on here that we will (and should) have a change soon if there is no sign of improvement though.
Meanwhile, I hope the optimism among the fanbase lasts and I'm looking forward to Wolves at the weekend.
