Nearly.
You agree 200k with a buyer for the price of your house. But its walls are badly in need of repainting.
Before the sale completes and you are still living there you agree with the buyer that you will paint them all a nice shade of blue , spending 5k on the job.
The buyer agrees that’s saved him a job he was going to do anyway so he now agrees to pay 205k. It’s really cost you nothing.
That , I believe, is what is going on here.
A different way of looking at it, and one that makes a bit of sense if you consider other factors - tin foil hat time.
I've seen others suggest that the takeover has been delayed November, therefore we have no chance of Zedan and/or his people running the club this window.
Assuming Zedan remains interested, since we can have no confirmation otherwise, perhaps he has stipulated that in order to remain committed, he would like the club to stop being operated as it presently is (ie, the IOM funding the club up to their own self-imposed budget, rather than the actual FFP/SCR limit), which includes funding the current transfer window.
Maybe not maxing it out, because then the new ownership couldn't do anything when they come in without selling assets first, but obviously more than the couple of transfer fees paid, cheap early frees secured and customary loans that we have survived on for years.
The instalments in the future would be Zedan's responsibility, but say he has agreed to up the purchase price if it helps encourage some summer spending on his behalf.
Certainly would marry up with the rumblings we heard about Zedan wanting the club to kick on in January whilst sat in the playoffs.
