Crowd Performance

The atmosphere was much better tonight.
I was invited by my more mature neighbour to join him in the Finney near the halfway line. Great view by the way. Like watching a different game to being on the Town End. From that position it became obvious that our singing section has to be in the centre of the Town End rather than all tucked in a corner. The sound would be much better.
The football was good from us last night and the Sunderland supporters were in fine voice and we reciprocated. Which just goes to show that even if Ridsdale is still at the club, off field things and the general malaise of recent history doesn't have to affect the atmosphere.

Also did we all notice that Sunderland pretty much sang about their own team throughout. Not one rendition of Preston's a shithole, from what I remember. They're a good fanbase, lot of time for them.

Yeah, good fan base Sunderland…. 👍🏻👍🏻

Ando......have you ever fancied sitting in the 'posh seats' with Peter and chatting about 'that day'.....i'm sure it could finally do the trick......bye Peter....job done 😉

I’m a Town End boy, he can come to me……

On a serious note, I don’t like watching the game side on…

Couldn't get there last night, so if it was my seat you sat in - its purely a one off 🤣.
We have a great view. bang on half way line, right on the aisle next to hospitality, on Kop side.
Such good seats that i would be loathe to give them up, even if not getting down for every game.

Noticed that myself. No rendition of that other shitty chant 'football in a library' either.

Fair play to them - thought their support was superb. The atmosphere in general was very good.
Alexa, define Ironic - A handful of carrot crunchers singing a Black Lace conga song about no atmosphere in a football ground.

Every credit to Sunderland, even seen their numbers rubbished as its "just down the road" for them. What road is this, it's a pig of a drive at best times, especially in light of the M6 closure.

Give me a partizan crowd shouting for every 50/50 and singing their team on, brings for a better atmosphere all round and gets a bit of healthy competition.

Sounds in a similar area, but I was more to the Town End side of the halfway line.
I wouldn't give seats up in that area if I had them either.

We where on that side for a while, exact same row but on Town End side right up to Hospitality.
Have to say that the Kop side has an even better view, due to the way the Hospitality area is offset more to the Town end.
We are literally almost bang on the half way line.

Glad to hear! It's always tricky to get a sense when it's on telly because Sky always seem to turn up the mics on the side they think is the "big" one.

Great second half yesterday. Fans responded to the players efforts and the increased tempo. Infinitely better than the home fans away at Stoke midweek who were surprisingly mute.

Hecky’s thoughts…
PNE have in recent matches attacked the Kop in the second half, but in this one were back to the norm in attacking the Town End, who were right behind their team in the second half.

Hecky said: “I thought the atmosphere was great today and we want more of it. I've said before how much the crowd help us and I think they underestimate how important they are.

“From my first game here against Luton, they helped us get over the line in the last ten minutes. Today, with the corners as the game wore on, it felt like they were just determined to suck the ball in.

“The energy it gives the players when they're attacking the ball, it was vital. We've been here 2-0 up against Norwich and you could hear a pin drop. That's not what we want. We want the same thing, which is goals. We all want the same thing which is three points.

“We need to be fighting together to make sure we get that. The fans role in it, I think, can't be underestimated.”

The crowd are great when there's something to cheer. Within 30 seconds of the re-start yesterday you could hear a pin drop and big Dave slurping his bovril, and it was nothing to do with the crowd, it's because we were playing tippy-tappy between the keeper & defenders.

It's hard to roar Andrew Hughes' efforts at playing keep-ball, 3 miles away from goal.

It's a two way street. Magnolia football gets magnolia support.

Moments ignite games. Think Connor Bradley's Mbappe challenge this week.

The first half was as tedious as ever. Second half we saw endeavour and bravery. Guess what? The crowd responded.

The players were out in their feet at the end. And the supporters appreciated the effort. That's the way it works.

No one claps paint drying.
