Aston Villa 5 Craig Brown's shitheads 0

I never went cos I hated Brown and knew we'd get destroyed, cos Brown was a queer.

I went, but we were beat before the kick off. The full extent of Fuller's knee unjury became apparent earlier in the day and the whole thing was flat, the team, the supporters and the performance.

Look, I was at that game tit-piss! Beating Third Division (at the time) giants Smogborough at Ayresome Park. Good old Rocket Ronnie!

But it kinda proves my point, PNE's cup/giant-killing exploits have been very thin on the ground in my 30 years watching the Nobs.

Tonight's game just makes me insanely jealous as I know it'll never happen for us, whereas they've already turned over Arsenal & Wigan as well as Villa in the same bloody season & they're bloody Div 4!

Bleedin' sick of Nob End at the moment!

Can we win on saturday for once please? No, thought not...

Neal I'm sick of the doss cunts myself at the moment too........I'm having nightsweats and panic attacks everytime I hear Brent on the radio telling us how a good run is around the corner and how Stevenage were in a worse position and got promoted....I'm close to the fuckin edge man....Don't push me 'cause I'm close to the edge.

We did what Bradford did but on a lot bigger scale reaching the final of the FA Cup when it was the competition to win in 1964! .Manchester United and West Ham United was the other semi final but it was West Ham who we played. As a school boy seeing your team then a second division side playing in an FA Cup final was a dream come true and that memory will stay with me for the rest of my life!

I just remembered a really big one... FA Cup 3rd round. Preston v Derby in the late 70s. They were the old Div 1... were Div 2.

20,000 on. Won 3-0. Bruce got two, and I can picture his face on the back of the Daily Mail. Can't remember who got the other. I seem to remember it being a night match.

Of course we beat Derby in the noughties... but I think they remain the only top flight team we've knocked out of a cup in all my years.

Preston scoring in the last minute to draw 1-1 with Spurs at home. Sicknote Anderton scored in the first couple of mins. 96, 97ish. Not sure who got ours, Holt I think but could of been Saville.

Stil one of my fondest memories and in all my lifetime the only real giantkilling we pulled off.

Easily my best cup memory, along with the semi final victory against Swansea in 1964. Thanks for the video too.

I am sure that people on here in the past have said that it was Alan Spavin who scored the winner - I was convinced that it was Ernie and was pleased to be proved not completely senile yet.

John Mcgrath gave us a few memorable games 5-0 JT hat trick against Bury division above us too , Middlesboro little Ronnie hilders , beating Derby 3-0 under Nobby Stiles and so on

That was the last time I remember the Spion Kop being packed out, although my memory of it isn't a night match... but then we're both getting on a bit now. Nobby's Super White Army! And Derby away 1-4 was great too. We've got the cup hex on them.

Didnt we knock Birmingham out of the League Cup about 10 years ago at their place when they were in the Prem ?

Yes, what a wonderful experience that was, and we were surrounded by a full house I recall. However the Trades Descriptions Act was obviously infringed, when the commentary mentions: "and Spavin shoots"....That phrase is up there, top of the list of the most unlikely true phrases possible, probably beating into second place the present day's mutterings of our manager alleging: "we battered them".
