Davis preferred candidate and Proctor to return (LEP)

Davis preferred candidate and Proctor to return (LEP)

Yeah your right, I hated winning all the time. I also didn't like walking to Deepdale expecting there to be 14-15000 on for a routine league game all expecting us to win. They were dire times indeed. What we want is someone who will come in and say "you score 3, we'll score 4."

How anybody can argue against Davies being given the job is beyond me. I still don't think it will happen for the record but if it does I'll be delighted.

He inherited a fine squad and underachieved given the personnel. We won nothing under Davies, when we should have won the league, never mind get into the play offs.
Given our crap current squad, Davies would struggle.
Squad inherited by Davies. Superb.
Honours won under Davies. Zero. Play-offs won under Davies. Zero.

Im surprised nobody has picked up on the confirmation that Brown brought Proctor back way too early. I said it at the time and I`ll say it again it was a disgraceful and potentially career wrecking decision to bring him back as quick as he did.

Four out of four then, twice with us, once with Forest and once with Derby.

That still doesn't detract from you being a blind faith idiot.

He is proven at a higher level at three clubs, all Alexander has going for him is the hero worship of a few blind faithers. You don't want him because you're all upset that he turned his back on us, how mongish is that?

Four out of Four ? Still incorrect.... care to guess again you daft cunt!

As for Alexander, I wouldn't want him as manager either, although I'd like him and Unsworth to be given the opportunity. If we were to appoint from within, then Unsworth would be the choice for me rather than Alexander. I remember a certain Mr Allardyce not being given a fair crack of the whip when in caretaker managership and he went on to form a pretty decent career in the game, not that I am saying Unsworth / Alexander would achieve the same.

I still dont understand your completely blinkered view that the appointment of Davies would change our fortunes. The guy spent money that both Derby and Forest didn't have to get to the play offs, financially Forest are still struggling from the after effect of this spending. Only a board takeover stopped Derby from financial peril post Davies, again spending record sums prior to his dismissal.

Do you honestly believe he will be given funds if appointed, given our perilous financial situation at present, do you think him spending more money that we haven't got is the wise thing to do ?

This is why I believe Davies isn't the correct man to appoint, not purely because he is a cuntish human being, however that may go some way to explain your adulation of him.

Billy Davis? Never heard of him.

As for Billy Davies, the former North End deserter, and bore draw specialist, who inherited a fine squad at Deepdale, I am amazed at the level of love some people have for this man.

I remember attending matches under Davies, and I spent most of the match chatting to my pal than watching, clapping, or cheering any action.

If you want boring, attritional, low scoring affairs, then Billy Davies is your man. Good luck. I'm not paying to support that deserter.

I do think Billy Davies inherited a good squad and that was largely down to Craig Brown and that's why I always gave Craig Brown more credit than most on here. However, Craig Brown had that squad and he was unable to get them to play like Billy did.

Was it end to end stuff? No. Was it countless attacks and free flowing stuff? No. Was it goals galore? No. Was it promotion form football? Yes.

It has been down hill ever since he left. And also the appointment of Billy would also indicate a rather large transfer budget as I am sure as hell he wouldn't be coming here on pennies.

Billy Davies is a horrible, little poisened dwarf, and I'd love him back!

"Was it promotion form football? Yes"
Really? Remind me, would you?
What division did a very affluent and well paid squad get promotion to under Billy Davies? My memory must be playing tricks on me.

Under Billy Davies at Deepdale, North End would play like the away side for the first half at least. They defended in numbers and killed the game
This tactical acumen was the reason, ultimately, a very good North End squad under-achieved. I feel Billy Davies actually held back North End, rather than progressing them, and brought about the tread water style and financial problems of North End which his descendants had to deal with.
It is irrelevant to compare then to now, because the club has changed its operating procedures and the expectations were different then. North End, then, were ready for a big push for promotion. They had momentum and should have kicked on. They didn't, and fell short. This was under Billy Davies.

What a stupid childish comment this is!!!
I dont give a toss who the manager is, I will be there week in week out supporting MY CLUB and the people who go out there and make a difference, The players. If its under Davies then so be it, If it is DU and GA then fine. As long as we go up I dont care. As long as we win I dont care. But to say I am taking my ball in if he is involved shows how childish you are and the level of support you give!

Got PNE to the play-offs twice
Got Derby to the play-offs once, and won
Got Forest to the play-offs twice

Not a bad record and certainly the best available manager around.

Surely you wouldn't ignore PNE if we morphed into a team capable of thrashing Ipswich 4-0 away from home again?

Billy Davies managed the best side we have had in decades, I reckon anybody who wouldn't have him back because they're still sulking about him leaving last time is a twat.

Just because some people have morals and principles i think calling them a twat is a bit harsh. Would you forgive your wife and take her back if she let another man fuck her up the arse?....just because she was the best shag you ever had? Billy Davies did the same to us in footballing terms, he and his backroom staff. They left us in shit state and probably will do again given the chance. He left Derby in a shit state and looking whats going on at Forest he's left them in a shit state, do we really want to go through all that again?

Correct. Twatto was happy to brag about a long unbeaten run, turn 6 draws into wins and lose a few draws and guess what? Billy would have a real, bona fide promotion on his grubby CV.

You should stick to tossing burgers pal.

Was his record at Derby good? No, that's why he was sacked. Was his final season in charge of Hull good? No, that's why he was sacked. Was his near year in charge of us good? No, that's why he was sacked. Apart from 2 seasons at Hull, he has a poor record.

... When PNE hired Brown, he hadn't been Preston manager yet, weirdly enough.

Correct. Some legacies left eh.....plus Motherwell bankrupt and rock bottom when he left.

Number #1 fan time, is it? Go on then. I admit. You are a better fan than me. I'm gutted.

People go on the match because they enjoy it or they are bound by a bargain bucket season ticket they bought in the pre-June sale in the summer (The cheapest ticket possible) as most of the 9,000 regulars each week prove. Loyalty is not the reason. It is an illusion. The real motivation is enjoyment, nothing better to do, and thrift that drives most regulars.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching North End from 1985 and beyond.
