Dean Windass

Geriatric Daily

"Preston manager Phil Brown is trying to persuade 42 year old Dean Windass to come out of retirement and lead the team's front line for the relelgation run in. Brown confirmed that he has great faith in experienced players and intends bringing in several other older players. It was also confirmed that the club will listen to offers for youngsters McLaughlin, Barton, Mayor, Proctor, Douglas in addition to creative flair players Treacy and Coutts who no longer figure in his plans to adopt a much more direct style of football."

I would be very happy with this signing. He knows where the net is.

You are all about to get exactly what you deserve. Enjoy it. No doubt you will all be frothing at the lips when 34 year old youngster Ashbee trundles onto the pitch aided by his zimmer frame.
Andrew when are you going to get the message no one listens to you and your nonsense please take the hint, the problem is people like me answering you instead of just ignoring you, give you CRED now please pretty please PISS OFF😡

Everyone can scoff at Voldemort as much as they like, but the fact remains that the strategy which Irvine adopted of signing aged players in order to supposedly build a stable, defensive team is flawed in that if it doesn't work you screw the club's finances up for years to come. It should never have been allowed to happen.

Billy Davies attempted to build a team for the future alongside more experienced players by signing the likes of Nugent, Hibbert, Anyinsah - ok, two out of that three didn't come off - but one did, big style, and the club would've been quids in if Shaw hadn't been duped by wide boy Harry Redknapp.

IF Ashbee (and maybe Iwelumo) save us from relegation fair enough, but if they don't and we end up stuck with them on long-term contracts in League One then we'll be in an even worse state than we are now.

The fact is though, the answer lies somewhere in between. A few months ago most of you were wanking into your cornflakes over Coutts and Treacy and now when Voldemort points out his disappointment over the fact that they're not getting on the pitch he's suddenly wrong purely because of the fact that Phil Brown is the new kid on the block and he hasn't done anything to piss anyone off yet. Judgement over the new manager ought to be reserved until he's earned all of this adulation.

It's a personal thing against Voldemort for most on here now, I don't necessarily agree with him either but any fucker who seems to think that Lonergan is a Premiership goalkeeper and that Leon Clarke is going to score the goals to save us deserves to be treated with at least some level of suspicion.

You may not like Voldemort' postings but he always gets a response and so many take the hook, line and sinker!

I can accept Coutts and Treacy not being in the first 11 at the moment. It was mentioned earlier in the season that Coutts needed an op on his groin and was having pain-killing jabs to get through a game. Whenever we've seen him he's nowhere near his usual self. Treacy's been seen out till all hours and turning up for training ruff as toast. If he can't see how lucky he is to be a pro footballer and want to put his all into the job then I don't want to see him in a PNE shirt. Brown needs to put this to him from the start as we have enough sick-notes on the payroll as it is. The wages would be better used elsewhere.

Well said that man,

Whilst Voldemort puts his points across in shitty manner, he doesn't deserve the abuse he gets on here and the mods should delete anything that is not debating the points he is making.

I share his aspiration for a wenger esque footballing side made up of exciting talented youngsters. I can't stick route one footy but I'm willing to put up with it for 6 months if it means we stay up. As you say though if we go down with a team of has beens we'll be in the shit for a long time.

I'm still holding out hope for a cluster of miracle signings on monday, but if I'm honest I know it won't happen whilst Magic is doing the negotiations and Trevor is keeping his wallet in his pocket.

At the minute it seems as though we've lost 5 loanees + 2 or 3 permamnents and all we've managed to get is clarke. Brown Phil must be delighted.

Well actually, you cannot claim that Voldemort' post on this thread is a good point because it is no point at all. There is no such newspaper, the manager has made no such claim and the player in question has had no such request. So Voldemort' has actually made no point at all apart from the fact he is rather arrogant in that he thinks he knows best.

There are no valid points in this thread sorry, none at all.

What a hoot. Many of you are so dense that it has to be spelt out for you so here goes:

Henderson £150K + signing on fee £100K Value ZERO
Hart £100K + signing on fee £75K Departed for Zero
Collins £700K + signing on fee £100K Departed for £250K
Morgan £400K + signing on fee £100K Value £100K tops
Brown W. FREE + signing on fee £75K Value Zero
Nicholson FREE + signing on fee £75K Value zero
Shumulikowski £250K + signing on fee £100K Value zero
Parry £150K + signing on feee £100K Value zero
Elliott £200K + signing on fee £150K Value zero
Brown C. £400K + signing on fee £100K Value zero
Parkin £500K + signing on fee £150K Departed for £200K
Hayes Free + signing on fee £200K Value zero

and three absolute corkers

Nicholls £750K + signing on fee £200K Departed free
Carter £750K + signing on fee £200K Value Zero
Chaplow £1.1 million + signing on fee £200K Departed for £50K !!!!!!!

OK that's the roll call of incompetence. Now my opponents can tell me what exacty they disagree with? Which of these players am I wrong about in terms of what they've lost and will lose PNE?

There is just one exception to the above in Wallace who just may have made us £700K profit.

If handled correctly Treacy could be sorted out and would become a player worth a £million but both Brown and Horton are unable to resolve this problem. In fact I've been informed the situation has deteriorated even more on their watch.

Many of you will recall that two summers ago I was on here bleating on about how we should sign Adam and should go nowhere near Parry and Shumulikowski. It was all lined up. Kenny Moyes (David Moyes brother) had flown out to Austria to seal the deal with Irvine. Hemmings had specifically made the money available. At the last minute Irvine pulled the plug because of Adam's apparent attitude problem.Instead he went for 29 year old Parry and 28 year old Shumulikowski! The rest is history. Blackpool got their man for just £500K and now he's going to depart for something like £5-£6million.

In conclusion the above criminal waste of scarce finances is the economics of madness. It is clearly unsustainable. Incredibly it is a mistake which the club have not learned from and is about to be repeated!

Not "spam" Raefil merely fact. I challenge you or anyone else to go through those players and prove me absolutely wrong in terms of valuations and the disasters they've been for the club. You refer to is as "spam" because I've broken the argument down into it's most basic component parts and you now can't deal with it just as you couldn't vindicate your blind faith in useless footy manuals.

Meanwhile you still haven't provided your great learnings from your manual. From beyond the grave Shankly and Clough have destroyed your obvious belief that footy is a science and not the beautiful game. You were incapable of coming up with a single revolutionary idea that would absolutely astound me.

Sorry Voldemort, your originally post is bollocks, we are not signing Windass, but at least if we did it'd get him off the Tele, he's an embarrassment as a reporter as his efforts at Boro went to show.

If you had started this thread with your post about the values of players as you posted later then there would have been some point, but by trying to make a point by posting the Windass thing, well surely that has got to amount to spam. A very poor effort Mr Ring!

Glued to the bottom of the league, and in IMMEDIATE TROUBLE, North End found it extremely hard to attract fresh, young, inexperienced talent - the type that could take months or even seasons to flourish.

But manager Phil Brown later revealed that survival was not his main priority. "Plus I'm only on a twelve month contract anyway," he added, "I honestly don't give two fucks; Brian's the same."

How does Voldemort know all the exact transfer and signing on fees then seeing as he says it's fact?
He doesn't know the transfer and wages amounts but he likes to think he does - they are all guesstimates. Actually you can do what he has done with nearly every club in the land - each and every manager have bought players that have turned out to be worth less than they paid - even SAF.
