Derek and the board bottle it !

Derek and the board bottle it !

my opinion of Derek has gone through the roof that he's been masterminding these attempts since he was at primary school, with some attempts involving 3 promotions per season. And yet they say he is un-ambitious.

Well done derek!!😀

A team that pays great stuff at home are you having a laugh or what? We have been very lucky at home all season in fact rubbish on most occasions. We have never dicked anoyone 3:0 like we normally do have we?

Point taken it's not the greatest of stuff at home but it's a damn sight more better than the dross we have been serving up away for quite some time!🙁

Maybe this league is a more competitive league this season?? I don't think you will find many 3-0 and up tonkings this season. I can only think of Burnley 4-1 & 3-0 at start of season off top of my head! 😀

swansea 4-1

southampton might as well have been a 3 goal deficit.

wolves have battered many teams.

We all want top flight football (maybe even the club do) but how do we achieve it? Answers on a post card to Mr.D.Shaw, PNEFC, Sir Tom Finney Way, Deepdale, Preston.

Giving DS a vice presidency and getting in a chairman with a few original ideas could be a start🙄

I'd say lack of ideas is at the top of our list of problems
Shaw is merely following the "traditions" of other pne chairmen that have failed to bring top flight football back to deepdale since 1961
48 failed attempts at say your driving test would make you a laughing stock,48 failed attempts at top flight football strangely gets the accolade "well done derek"🙁

A driving test isn't a competition against other drivers.

We're in a 92 car race, where about 40 cars have bigger engines than we do. We have a steady, reliable driver, we're trying not to crash, but we just dont have the muscle to get into the leading pack.

Best just get the bike then to be on the safe side.

I've run out of metaphors for that analogy.

Would you have us drop back so we can stop leaking money? Because, to be frank- You could invest £5 million and there's still very little chance of us going up.

A big investement would not be some magical cureall- it would more than likely just accelerate our demise.

I think it's inevitable, the way things are, that the only way is down. The only way we can stop losing money is to either go down, or go up. We simply cannot stay where we are losing money hand over fist.

I'd gamble for the prem if it was my money rather than just inevitably go skint anyway. If we are never going to get in the prem, then the lower leagues are the only alternative.

Borrow my horse if you want? Lot less hassle than a bike, although he has a tendancy to spook at plastic bags, birds, water, rabbits...on second thoughts don't bother.

I've ridden a horse once before. It was okay, but bloomin' painful afterwards!

How much is a gamble, and how much before it really makes a difference? How much is a failure going to set us back- how many more outside chances do we have before we slide back down without major backing?

I don't know. That's the point. I also don't know about the questions I asked. There has to be an optimum somewhere, but all depends on the frugality and effectiveness of the money we have spent.

If I was to say anything though- it would be next season is the one we should gamble on. We can't wait much longer if we're gonna try it, but this season was for consolidation. Clearing out the crap, and starting to get the squad together that AI wants.

The fact we've gotten so high in the table is a false dawn to me- none of us expected it, and I doubt AI did either- it's caused higher expectations for this season;s finish than we should realistically expect with the mediocre squad we have.

If AI can do it, it will be next season that we show progression for me.
